1 Timothy 2:5

DailyBibleStudy.Org

5 For [gar] there is one [heis] God, [theos] and [kai] one [heis] mediator [mesites] between God [theos] and [kai] men, [anthropos] the man [anthropos] Christ [Christos] Jesus; [Iesous] KJV-Interlinear

5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, NASB

And this is the single principle of truth that sets Christianity apart from all, repeat all other systems of belief in the world, throughout all of history.

There is only one God. One means unique.

The God of Christianity is unique and different from all other gods or claims of deity from all other religions.

Many try to equate the God of Judaism, of Islam, of Hinduism, of Buddhism, and make the assumption that they should all be treated equally with respect.

Since the fundamental essence of deity is truth, and omniscience, then God cannot lie and God cannot make any mistakes since He knows all things.

However, since other religions claim to be the only god then that claim alone disqualifies the concept of a plurality of gods.

The Bible is the oldest system of faith in existence, dating back to Adam, and documented in one of the oldest of recorded books in all of history, which is that of Job, and predating all of the other religions.

The concept of a single and unique God is referenced in several places in the Bible, Deut 4:35,39; 6:4; Isa 43:10; 44:6; 45:5-6,21-22; 46:9; 1 Cor 8:4,6.

Further, the Bible teaches that there is only one person who stands between God and man, as the only unique mediator between the two, equal with both deity and humanity, Job 9:33, Acts 4:12, Heb 8:6, Heb 9:15, 12:24, namely Jesus Christ.

The single reference to the man, refers to the unique man, or to the unique person, separate from all other person in the human race.Jesus Christ is the unique person of the universe, both God and man together in the same person. This is often referred to as the hypostatic union.

And the name of course is Jesus Christ.

Christ is taken from the Greek, and is equivalent to the Hebrew word Messiah, both meaning anointed. John 1:41, 4:25.

And Jesus which is taken from the Greek, and is equivalent to the Hebrew word Joshua, meaning God is salvation. And therefore taken together both carry the meaning, The anointed savior is God. Acts 7:45, Heb. 4:8, Matt. 1:21.

In many passages the name Jesus Christ is associated with deity even further, kurios, which means Lord, Acts 11:17; 15:11; 16:31; 20:21; 28:31; Rom 1:7; 5:1,11; 13:14; 1 Cor 16:23, etc.
