1 Timothy 6:14

DailyBibleStudy.Org

14 That thou [se] keep [tereo] this commandment [entole] without spot, [aspilos] unrebukeable, [anepileptos] until [mechri] the appearing [epiphaneia] of our [hemon] Lord [kurios] Jesus [Iesous] Christ: [Christos] KJV-Interlinear

14 that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, NASB

And the command or order given to Timothy by Paul, and to you and me through Paul, but which command originates from God, is to keep the commandment.

Keep, tereo, means to guard as to guard from loss or injury, to keep intact, to watch over with a close eye, to put up a fortress surrounding and protecting that which you are in charge of.

Commandment, entole, refers not to one single commandment or principle, but to the entire body of principles taught in the Bible.

Without spot or unrebukeable, refers to both the commandments and principles taught in the Bible, as well as yourself.

You are to keep yourself perfect. You do this by confession and positioning yourself in fellowship.

And you keep the scriptures untainted, by not distorting the things taught by the Bible.

Now, turn in your Bible to 1 Kg. 13:1-26, and read the account of the man of God. The man of God described in this passage, did all that God had told him to do, but in the end, he disobeyed Gods orders because another man lied to him.But he nonetheless, disobeyed, and was made to pay a high price for his disobedience. You might think that, that was unfair.

However, God gives us all doctrine for the purpose of making us better people, for one thing, and to prepare us for eternity, as well.

But to those who He gives much (a spiritual life), much (obedience) is expected.

God has made available to each one of us, Bible doctrine, and with that doctrine, we have an opportunity to advance to unbelievable heights, that can never be matched by anything in this world.

With that opportunity comes unbelievable blessings from God, into our lives. However, with that elevated and eminent and distinguished privilege, comes elevated responsibility and accountability.

God does not take His truth, for granted.Neither should you.

The scriptures command you to study. The scriptures command you to grow in grace. The scriptures command you to advance to spiritual maturity. And you are to do these things in such a way as to not taint either the doctrines or yourself in the process. Why?

Because of the imminent appearance of Christ.

And what does that mean? Two things.

First, Christ is going to appear in your life when you die. When you die you will be absent from the body and face to face with the Lord.

And, second, for one generation only, there will be the Rapture, when Christ will appear in the air, and snatch up to Himself, all believers.

One way or another you are going to leave this world. The question is, Have you been obedient to God, and are you, or will you be, prepared in your spiritual life, when that meeting comes?

Will you assume for yourself, the responsibility to seek out and pursue your spiritual life?
