5 Remember ye [mnemoneuo] not, [ou] that, [hoti] when I was [on] yet [eti] with [pros] you, [humas] I told [lego] you [humin] these things [tauta]? KJV-Interlinear

5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? NASB

This is not the first time that Paul has taught the Thessalonians the doctrines of the return of Christ (Rapture), of the details surrounding the Tribulation, and of the events surrounding the Second Advent.Nor the first time that he has taught them the principles of our own Church Age.

You should recall our study from just a few days ago, within this book, that the Thessalonians already knew these things.

The instructions of Jesus Christ were being taught by the Apostles and others, from the time of Pentecost (approximately 30 A.D.) right up until this time of Pauls writing in the early to mid 50 s A.D., and ever since then.

Even though there was a delay in the writings of the New Testament, that does not mean that the doctrines of scripture were not being taught. Similar to the writings of Moses, which did not occur until perhaps 1500 B.C., that too, did not mean that doctrine did not exist prior to Moses. For the principles of scripture, have existed since the time of Adam.

And in our current day, there is so much confusion with regard to prophecy, that even the best of Christians has to be on the alert, lest he get caught up in the confusion.

The Thessalonians had already been praised by Paul, for their tenacity in doctrine and faith, but in this letter he has had to remind them that they had misunderstood the principles behind the Church Age and the return of Christ.

They fully expected that Christ was going to return in their day, and that caused confusion and apprehension among them. Thus Paul in this letter is clarifying their confusion.

Namely that there was a necessity for several things to occur, before Christ would return. First, the great apostasy in the world, prior to the Rapture, and second, the revealing of the man of sin, or the anti-christ, who would rule in the Tribulation with impunity, before the Second Advent.

There is of course a great deal more that will occur, but Paul is only touching on the high points here, because the Thessalonians were setting aside their whole lives based on the gossip and sensational calls for getting ready for the Rapture. And, that is not what they should be doing.

No one knows the date of the Rapture. No one knows the year, or even the decade. Therefore, even though you may be interested in learning of the future events to come, because they are neat and cool and exciting, you too, should not place your life on hold because you believe, or someone told you, that the Rapture is going to happen now or pretty soon.

Rapture prophets are a dime a dozen out there, and they are not worth even that dime. For folks not familiar with USA currency, a dime is very little money.Anyway, the Rapture prophets are just as worthless, if not more so.

The only way you can get confused, is if you do not participate in a daily study of the scriptures, and therefore you simply do not learn, or if you listen to the nonsense out there in the world, rather than listening to truth.

History is full of folks who have been taken advantage of, by hoax s and shysters, and people who are nothing more than hustlers or con-artists. And even though you might not get taken advantage of, by some smooth talking person, you can still get taken advantage of by society and the world, because the world by default is anti-truth.

And when our dispensation nears its end, the greatest apostasy in history, greater than in the days of Noah, will have seized the minds of the greater portion of the entire world population.

So, study, listen, learn, understand, and possess the knowledge that God has made available to us all, and then when you have become wise, continue to study, listen, and learn throughout all of your life, so that you do not lose track of truth, so that you do not lose track of your life, so that the world cannot lay claim to you.

Remember our study in Colossians. Your life is a journey. During your journey, during you walk, you are developing your very own song, your very own story. Therefore grow up to spiritual maturity, become complete through doctrine within your soul, and never, never forget.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
