Galatians 1:7

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

7 Which [hos] is [esti] not [ou] another; [allos] but there be [eisi] some [tis] that [ei me] trouble [tarasso] you, [humas] and [kai] would [thelo] pervert [metastrepho] the gospel [euaggelion] of Christ. [Christos] KJV-Interlinear

7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you, and want to distort the gospel of Christ.  NASB

Which is really not another, is a reference to the false gospel mentioned at the end of the previous verse.

There is but one gospel, not two or three or four or more.

There is but one gospel, not alternate versions of the same gospel.

There is but one gospel, not the true gospel with things added on to it, or exceptions made from it.

There is but one gospel, not many gospels from different faiths from which you may choose according to what best fits your beliefs or fancy.

And Paul tells them straight out that there are those, people, who have been coming among the Galatians, who are perverting the gospel into something that the gospel is not.

The culprits are not named, nor their number mentioned. That aspect of this verse is unimportant, as the one and only genuine gospel of Christ is important, and all versions or attempts to add to it are important lessons to be learned, but the names of those doing the dirty deed are not important.

Throughout history, there will always be those who will take the legitimate gospel of Christ, and then tweak it a little or a lot in order to promote their agenda. That agenda may be membership in their group or cult, whatever that group may be, or it may be driven to make money in some form, or it may simply be an ego trip in order to get attention for themselves or self-promotion.

But no matter what the agenda, any form of falsification of the gospel is a sin obviously, and has the ulterior motive of misleading others for ones own selfish interest, whatever that interest may be.

The gospel of Christ is singular.

There is but one gospel, and only one gospel.

And that gospel states very clearly in the scriptures, that Christ is God, who came to this world as a man, and went to the Cross as the perfect sacrifice in payment for the sins of humanity. For the purpose of providing salvation to anyone who believes in Him.

Believing in Him merely references who He is and what He did and what He is doing now. It is the belief that He is God, He is the savior, He came as man, He became our substitute for sin, that He died and was raised up in resurrection, that He is now sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven, that He will return and establish the Kingdom of God on this earth for a period of 1000 years, and that He will create new universe, and so forth.

The subject of the entire Bible from its beginning to its end, is Jesus Christ.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
