Galatians 1:9

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

9 As [hos] we said before, [proereo] so [kai] say I [lego] now [arti] again, [palin] If any [ei tis] man preach [euaggelizo] any other [para] gospel [euaggelizo] unto you [humas] than [para] that [hos] ye have received, [paralambano] let him be [esto] accursed. [anathema] KJV-Interlinear

9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed. NASB

In the previous verse, Paul mentions 'we' or an 'angel' as the sources of possible false doctrine, by example.

But now he expands that to include anyone or everyone including yourself, 'any man.'

In the previous verse, the phrase, 'that which we have preached,' is replaced with, 'that you have received.'

And it is here that the problem and guilt arises.

Formerly they Galatians heard the correct gospel which Paul was teaching. This includes the pattern of salvation, which is by faith alone. And this doctrine the Galatians took superficially, but understood it.

Now others come along with a false view of salvation and other spiritual concepts, and the Galatians not only tossed away the former teaching, but they 'received' this new teaching. They embraced it. They accepted it without a second thought or hesitation.

The truth is tossed aside so easily and quickly, and the lies of false beliefs are pursued and embraced without question.

Accursed, 'anathema,' means banned, censured, an abomination, loathsome, doomed. And this simply means that they will fail, and fail miserably.

But remember that anyone also applies to yourself, if it is you who are pursuing false beliefs in life.

And remember that if you are not in compliance with Gods mandated spiritual process, then your disregard or indifference constitutes a pursuit of your 'better' ideas, that are of course false.

The result in your life? Spiritual failure. And who will be to blame for that?

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
