Heb. 2:2-4

2 For [gar] if [ei] the word [logos] spoken [laleo] by [dia] angels [aggelos] was [ginomai] stedfast [bebaios], and [kai] every [pas] transgression [parabasis] and [kai] disobedience [parakoe] received [lambano] a just [endikos] recompence of reward [misthapodosia];
3 How [pos] shall we [hemeis] escape [ekpheugo], if we neglect [ameleo] so great [telikoutos] salvation [soteria]; which [hostis] at the first [arche] began [lambano] to be spoken [laleo] by [dia] the Lord [kurios], and was confirmed [bebaioo] unto [eis] us [hemas] by [hupo] them that heard [akouo] him;
4 God [theos] also bearing them witness [sunepimartureo], both [te] with signs [semeion] and [kai] wonders [teras], and [kai] with divers [poikilos] miracles [dunamis], and [kai] gifts [merismos] of the Holy [hagios] Ghost [pneuma], according to [kata] his own [autos] will [thelesis]? KJV-Interlinear

2 For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, 4 God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. NASB

At some point in eternity past, the angels rebelled against God. At some later point all of them failed in their relationship with God (probably being caught between the two opinions of both God and Satan), and all had to make a decision, either to be for or against God. We know from the scriptures that two-thirds chose for God, and one third of the angels, chose against God.

And, of the one-third that chose against God, they were placed on trial. In that trial, all of their options were considered, and they continued to be defiant against God. They finally reached a point where they were sentenced to the Lake of Fire.

By the way, that sentence has not yet been carried out, and won't be until the end of human history, at the end of the Millennium.

Angels are far superior to us. They are much smarter than the smartest human, and they have more capabilities than any of us. Not to mention that they are not confined to just one planet in this universe. They can travel anywhere they wish, at anytime.

Angels have the privilege of seeing all of history, from the creation of the universe, up until now. Angels were created before the universe. And, obviously their knowledge and experience includes all of our prehistoric history (with the dinosaurs and such), as well as all of current human history.

Needless to say, they know far more than we do. They can see themselves (obviously), heaven, God, and of course they can see the human race and human history.

Despite all of this knowledge and experience, they rebelled, had to face God, and be judged. Those who refused God, were judged and will go to the Lake of Fire.

If God will do this to them - condemn them, give them an opportunity for repentance, judge them, and sentence them, then won't God also hold the human race to account for our failures? And the answer to that question is, 'Yes!'

Our responsibilities to God, have been outlined clearly in the scriptures. Our responsibilities to God were explained by Jesus Christ. Our responsibilities to God have been explained by the prophets, and the apostles. Our responsibilities to God are made known to every human being who reaches an age of accountability.

The age of accountability can vary from culture to culture, but basically when a child becomes aware of God, and His role in this world, then that child, when he can make his own rational decisions, is then held accountable for his thoughts, decisions and actions in life.

When a child, or anyone, dies prior to attaining this capacity for make their own decisions (see the study of David's first infant child), then they will go to heaven automatically. God is fair.

But, if a person who reaches this age, and then has ample opportunity to see, understand, and make his or her own decisions against God, then they will go to the Lake of Fire for their decision, in that regard.

Knowing the truth, but not willing to commit to that truth, then that person destines themselves to eternal condemnation.

That disaster in decision making makes these opening verses extremely important to those, who would be and remain, unbelievers. Their continued pattern of negative decisions against Christ, has eternal repercussions that are not good.

The angels took part in the establishment of the fundamental laws of God as communicated to mankind. They were present when God gave the Law to Moses. They are present throughout history, when God gives mankind doctrine.

Psa. 68:17
17 The chariots of God are myriads, thousands upon thousands; The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness. NASB

Acts 7:53
53 you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it. ' NASB

Disobedience deliberately closes its attentions to the commands, warnings, and invitations of God. Thus mans failure becomes a sin of neglect, or of omission, by doing nothing when man should do something. And, this is the unpardonable sin, which is unbelief, in the one and only savior, Jesus Christ.

Just as birth and death are certainties in your life, so to are the two possible destinies after death. The individual does not simply go to sleep and never sense or feel anything forever. Death is a separation from something. In our case our separation is from this physical body and this realm. This body is left behind as useless cargo and left to rot back to the elements (biological) from which it came.

Human life, which resides in the soul, which is not a part of the biological body, leaves and goes back to God from whence it came. From there, God directs it, the soul, to its appropriate destination. Unbelievers with their soul only, go to Torments, and there await their sentence to the Lake of Fire. Believers, with their soul and human spirit, go into the presence of the Lord and there await their resurrection.

Humanity is not going to discover eternal life through technology or super vitamins, and then recover everyone who has died in the past. We couldn't locate everyone anyway.

God has decreed a limit to our human lives. God has decreed dispensations for human history. One day, human history will come to a screeching halt, and then where will you be?

There is abundant proof of God, His plan, and your options. Decide well and prosper, or decide poorly, and lose.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
