Heb. 2:17-18

17 Wherefore [hothen] in [kata] all things [pas] it behoved him [opheilo] to be made like [homoioo] unto his brethren [adelphos], that [hina] he might be [ginomai] a merciful [eleemon] and [kai] faithful [pistos] high priest [archiereus] in things pertaining to [pros] God [theos], to [eis] make reconciliation for [hilaskomai] the sins [hamartia] of the people [laos].
18 For [gar] in [en] that [hos] he [pascho] himself [autos] hath suffered [pascho] being tempted [peirazo], he is able [dunamai] to succour [boetheo] them that are tempted [peirazo]. KJV-Interlinear

17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. NASB

Therefore, in order to be the perfect mediator, Christ had to be equal with both parties in the mediation. Man and God are the parties.

Jesus Christ became man, and in order to become man, He had to follow all the experiences that are appropriate to mankind.

Beginning with birth and infancy and continuing through childhood to young adult, Christ experience all the humiliations and difficulties and temptations that any man would be confronted with during His first thirty years of life.

Then His ministry began and Satan turned up the pressure cooker of life on Him in order to make Christ fail in something, anything. But of course Jesus Christ did not fail in anything.

He lived the perfect life, the sin free life, and was thus qualified to become our substitute in the matter of the payment of the debt required for all the sins of the world.

The justice of God demands that sin be punished and its debt be paid in full. That debt means death or the total separation of sin away from God. Of course once the debt has been paid then God is propitiated, appeased, satisfied with the cancellation (paid in full) of the debt.

Once paid, then the person paying the debt has not future life unless they can come back into the presence of God, and that means that they have to come back to life (a relationship with God), from death (separation from God). Only Christ is and was able to accomplish that task.

No normal human being has that capability.

No invented savior has that capability. Invention of the mind is not reality. No other religion addresses sin and the requirement of perfection before a relationship with God can be obtained. All other religions look to compromise of the divine essence such that man can have a relationship with God with circumstances which are less that perfect.

These are all of the goals of Satan of course, but then if Satan were allowed to continue his policy forever, there would never be peace, ever. Satan's policy is lies and brutality, to anyone and anything.

To have less than a prefect God, means less than perfect life. That is what we have right now, and look at the world today and even throughout history. Nothing but problems, hardship, and burdens for all of mankind. With tyrants and politicians and the sin nature of all of mankind, there will never be freedom from burden nor fairness in life.

Heaven is perfect and that means a perfect happiness, burden free, and evil free. No compromises, no less than perfect standards. Truth rules, and lies fade into oblivion.

Christ therefore, became man. He was and is the unique person of the universe, both God and man. It is through His work alone that we might become saved. All other plans of salvation invented by man are false. Man has no part in the work of Christ. Man cannot add to, nor take away from the work which Christ accomplished.

Christ was merciful to all of mankind who is deserving of nothing less than the wrath of God, but who is spared for simply believing.

He is faithful to both God and to man, in that He abided by all of the rules set forth by God, and He represented mankind in all of his weaknesses.

He is the single and only qualified High Priest. A priest is the one who makes mediation between imperfect man and perfect God. Not burdening either party, and satisfying both parties in the mediation. God demands the death of sin, and gives man the gift of life by requiring that man only need believe in the only Son of God, Jesus Christ.

God is satisfied and man has no burden whatsoever placed on him. Except the burdens which man places on himself by mans own invented methods. Leave it to mankind to make something so simple, into something impossible.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
