Heb. 7:22-24

22 By [kata] so much [tosoutos] was [ginomai] Jesus [Iesous] made [ginomai] a surety [egguos] of a better [kreitton] testament [diatheke].
23 And [kai] they [eisi] truly [men] were [eisi] [ginomai] many [pleion] priests [hiereus], because they were not suffered [koluo] to continue [parameno] by reason of [dia] death [thanatos]:
24 But [de] this man, because [dia] he [autos] continueth [meno] ever [eis] [aion], hath [echo] an unchangeable [aparabatos] priesthood [hierosune]. KJV-Interlinear

22 so much the more also Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. 23 And the former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers, because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but He, on the other hand, because He abides forever, holds His priesthood permanently. NASB

Two religions claim God the Father as the one true God - Islam and Judaism. Neither recognize the sin of man as the principle cause of mans separation from God. Neither recognize the need for righteousness (sinless perfection) and justice (the cleansing of sin) to be fulfilled before a relationship with God can be restored.

Judaism pursues a relationship with God through mans efforts to live a 'good' life by keeping the commandments. A goal which is impossible. Man can neither live a perfect life nor can man re-establish a relationship with God through mans own efforts. Man would have to elevate himself up to Gods level of perfection. Just ask anyone in your family whether you have achieved perfection !!!

Islam claims Abraham as their father as well. Yet Islam rejects the one and only Messiah, Jesus Christ, as they attempt to replace Him with another prophet, Mohammed, who was neither righteous, nor just, in any way. Islam looks to intimidation, violence, and lust to force or encourage followers. A far cry from the righteousness which God demands.

Jesus Christ is our guarantee of eternal life. He is our surety, having made a pledge or formal promise to secure believers against loss, damage, or default of any kind. He is our guarantee and security. He has assumed responsibilities for our debts and has redeemed us from the claim that sin and death has had on our lives.

Christianity is a relationship with God the Father, by means of Jesus Christ. We see and we approach the Father by looking at Christ. Christ is the mirror of the Father.

The Levites had huge numbers of priests over their many generations. None of them were ever able to accomplish the redemption of even a single sin.

Jesus Christ is but one person, and in just three hours on the Cross that afternoon of Passover, between noon and three p.m., He cleared the decks of all of the sins of the entire human race. And, He cleared them off of the books permanently and forever.

No human priest lives forever. All human priests eventually die. Jesus Christ is the unique person of the universe, both God and man. He is eternal life. He is life itself.

Israel is a reference to the spiritual people of God - believers in the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lord is the personal name of the second person of the Trinity, the Messiah. The 'Lord is one,' means that He is unique. Both God and man in one person.

Deut. 6:4
4 'Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one !' NASB

'THOU art a priest;' means that there is but one priest, one access to God. There is no other.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
