Heb. 8:6

6 But [de] now [nuni] hath he obtained [tugchano] a more excellent [diaphoros] ministry [leitourgia], by how much [hosos] also [kai] he is [esti] the mediator [mesites] of a better [kreitton] covenant [diatheke], which [hostis] was established [nomotheteo] upon [epi] better [kreitton] promises [epaggelia]. KJV-Interlinear

6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. NASB

Throughout history there have been priests of all sorts. Their intended purpose is to act as a go between, between man and God. Their history from Adam has been of that of the family head who acted as the family priest, then came the Levitical priesthood, then came Christ.

Gal. 3:19
19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed should come to whom the promise had been made. NASB

Ex. 20:18-19
19 Then they said to Moses, 'Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, lest we die.' NASB

Even Moses acted as a form of intermediary for a short time, while the Israelites lived those forty years in the desert.

Other religions had their priests who acted as go between, between people and their gods. These of course are all false priests. In fact except for the priesthood of Christ, there is only one other set of priests currently on this earth. Do you know who they might be?

1 Peter 2:9
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood'

The Royal Family is a family of Royal Priests. Every believer in Christ is a priest with the right to approach the Father directly. Of course we have to obey all of the rules of the spiritual life. That is we approach through Christ who is our primary door through which we go, in order to gain access to the Father.

But just as the priests of the Old Testament had to go through a training period before they could serve, so too, God will not accept your service unless you have had your training. That is your spiritual growth.

The many priests in the world today really don't serve much of a purpose, unless they are teaching Bible doctrine so you can learn and grow up spiritually. The world of course recognizes them out of the habit of their history. But priests per se cannot forgive, then cannot justify a person before God, they cannot reconcile anyone to God, they actually do not even represent God.

A priest acting in the capacity of intermediary must be equal with both parties - man and God. Only one person meets that criteria, Jesus Christ.

Christ has now a superior seat in the throne room of God in heaven. He serves from a superior sanctuary which is in heaven. He has a superior ministry because He has a superior covenant, a covenant made up of superior promises. All of which He is able to fulfill.

The Bible only recognizes two priesthood's. That of the Levites and that of Jesus Christ. The Levitical priesthood could act only from a position of teaching the principles of the reality of the saviors ultimate role. Jesus Christ actually fulfills those principles.

We, believers of our current dispensation (the Royal Family) receive superior titles only because the work of Christ has been completed and we now do not need to rely on other earthly priests in order to have a relationship with God. We have the completed scriptures. Our only need now is to have someone to provide us with adequate teaching material so we can learn and advance to a position of independence or autonomy in our Christian life.

The more you learn and grow up, then eventually you will not need to be taught by others in order to sustain your spiritual growth. However, a smart person (a mature believer) will always seek out the knowledge of Bible teachers. Ones learning process continues all of ones life. There will never be a time when you have learned it all.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
