You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Heb. 11:7

7 By faith [pistis] Noah [Noe], being warned of God [chrematizo] of [peri] things not [medepo] seen [blepo] as yet [medepo], moved with fear [eulabeomai], prepared [kataskeuazo] an ark [kibotos] to [eis] the saving [soteria] of his [autos] house [oikos]; by [dia] the which [hos] he condemned [katakrino] the world [kosmos], and [kai] became [ginomai] heir [kleronomos] of the righteousness [dikaiosune] which is by [kata] faith [pistis]. KJV-Interlinear

7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. NASB

Adam demonstrated faith. Abel demonstrates that worship must be in accordance with Gods will. Enoch demonstrates that one must conduct his daily life in accordance with Gods will. Now Noah's life will demonstrate that we must be obedient to Gods will even in the face of the unknown.

Believing in Christ is not enough. Faith, without action of soul behind it, is empty. Action of soul comes first by means of learning Gods will and then by abiding by it. We put together a spiritual checklist study quite some time ago. You might want to revisit that study sometime, and follow it - all of it.

James 2:26
26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. NASB
True faith always has actions to support its claim.

Satan, on the other hand tries to send believers off into the extremes in order to undermine their spiritual life. People can succumb to spirituality by works, which is just a form of legalism, or they can pursue a life indifferent to Gods spiritual requirements. That can be viewed as a license to do anything so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

But the spiritual life is neither of these. Obedience requires a knowledge and understanding of Gods word, and that comes only with a pattern of daily study. God reveals His will when the believer is in fellowship and pursues his studies in a consistent daily manner. And guess what? Gods will is not 'doing' but learning in such a manner that, that learning transforms your fundamental thinking.

But in all that we do, we will all face challenges one day. Challenges that push our faith to its limits. A soldier rushes onto the beach with enemy bullets zipping all around. That is faith. A single parent works to pay the bills and make a decent life for the child. That can be a very trying experience. Both push their faith to its limits. God takes care of both with equal care.

Gen. 6:13
13 Then God said to Noah, 'The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. NASB

Noah was told that the world would be judged with rain and flood. What is that? Noah had never seen rain. Noah had never seen a flood. But everyone who did not heed God, would drown.

Further, Noah was told to build an ark that was the length of one and a half football fields and extremely wide to boot. Then he was to load anyone who believed God, including lots of animals. And, once loaded, he was to wait until God called him to exit the ark.

For 120 years, Noah received instructions. For 120 years Noah was the joke of the planet. For 120 very long years, Noah taught the coming judgment and warned everyone that they were going to die if they did not get their act together and board the ark when the time came. For 120 years Noah took the ridicule, and that is a long time to be the target of gossip and jokes, especially when the impending judgment was something that has never occurred before. And this huge thing that Noah was building? How was he ever going to get it to the water. Why build it here in the middle of a field in the forest. What is an ark anyway?

And so Noah's test of faith was particular to him, in his time. Your test of faith will be particular to you during your life. Your test might last a few minutes as your airplane comes crashing down. 'Why me, and why now?' Or, your test of faith might last for decades as you live a tough life. 'Have you abandoned me?' Or, your test of faith might come over your whole lifetime as your live a relatively easy life. 'Life is no big thing. Who needs Bible doctrine anyway? I must be holy already?'

To each, there will be a test, or series of tests, to prove your faith, or lack of it. We were not put on this earth to sit on the porch swing, to do nothing.

Eph. 2:10
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. NASB

In Noah's day. The indifferent of the world inherited what? Death by drowning. The righteous, merely sat the flood out in the ark and inherited the entire world.

2 Peter 2:5
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; NASB

Gen. 6:5
5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. NASB

1 Peter 3:20
20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, NASB

When the ark was finished, Noah immediately began to load it. When the loading was completed, the rain began to come down. Noah and his family got onto the ark and shut the door. That was the last moment that anyone could have made up their mind to believe in Gods word. The had 120 years of warning.

Even today, people have their entire life to get their spiritual act together. How many do?

We can probably picture the scene. The ark is located in the middle of a field, surrounded by the many tree stumps left there when he cut down trees for his building materials. The people watched from the surrounding hill sides. They could look down on the ark and make their jokes.

Then the rain began to fall. As the waters rose the people had yet another choice. To go toward the ark, or to go to higher ground. They chose the latter. When you choose for the world, you will lose every time.

Only eight people, out of possibly millions, survived the flood.

If you choose for God, you will be in the minority of the very few who will make the right choices throughout their life. Stick to your Bible studies, regardless of the circumstances in your life, and God will give to you a phenomenal life now (you will see your life and world history unfolding all around you), and God will give you an even greater life beyond your imagination, in eternity.

Out of over perhaps a hundred billion people who will live throughout all of human history, lots will be saved, but I'll bet that fewer than one percent will succeed to spiritual maturity. You need to be in that group, and you can be.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
