Heb. 12:26-27

26 Whose [hos] voice [phone] then [tote] shook [saleuo] the earth [ge]: but [de] now [nun] he hath promised [epaggello], saying [lego], Yet [eti] once more [hapax] I [ego] shake [seio] not [ou] the earth [ge] only [monon], but [alla] also [kai] heaven [ouranos].

27 And [de] this word, Yet [eti] once more [hapax], signifieth [deloo] the removing [metathesis] of those things that are shaken [saleuo], as [hos] of things that are made [poieo], that [hina] those things which cannot [me] be shaken [saleuo] may remain [meno]. KJV-Interlinear

26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven. 27 And this expression, Yet once more, denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, in order that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. NASB

In this universe there are two opinions Gods and everything else. There is truth and there are lies. There is right and there is wrong. There is light and there is dark. There is the right way to do things and there is the wrong way to do things. There is good and there is evil. And, there is that which can be shaken, and that which cannot be shaken.

Everything that belongs to God is steadfast, solid, immovable, and can not be shaken from its position in God, and accordingly will last forever. This is every believers security, eternal security, in Christ.

Anything which does not belong to God, anything which is considered temporary in this universe, is subject to deterioration, corruption, and destruction.

God shook the earth at Mt. Sinai. Everyone was terrified and lots of folks died. This first shaking was intended to wake everybody up with respect as to what the true reality of life is. From time to time God throws many destructive forces at us in order to wake us up.

As we have said before, it is easy to get caught up in our day to day life. Keeping busy with whatever it is we do from day to day. It is just as easy to forget that there might not be a tomorrow. We all kind of presume that our tomorrow s are a given. We expect to get up every morning and go to school, or go to work, or go shopping, or do whatever it is we do from day to day. Every weekend we have our social life, or our weekend activities. And we fully expect to do the things that we have planned during the week.

Nobody wants to think about a major disaster coming into their life, and certainly no one wants to think about the end of their life. That can get depressing, and it certainly isn t cool. We all want life to be positive, and happy, and one that we look forward to for good or better things in life. Who wants to cling to the doom and gloom side of life?

And of course the Christian life should not be viewed as a doom and gloom philosophy. It should be looked at as an opportunity for a life phenomenally better, far greater than anything that you could otherwise achieve.

Too many folks see all of the warnings of the Bible as a doomsday approach to life. But all that God is doing is reminding us that we all have an opportunity for huge successes in life, and that if we ignore His wisdom, we risk losing out on huge blessings.

One day the world, indeed the entire universe will be shaken to its foundation. All things shakable will be destroyed. That includes all of the tangible universe as well as all unbelievers. This is not the ultimate collapsing of the universe back onto itself and then having a big bang and then starting life all over again as some theories go. But this shaking will be the final end of the universe as we know it. Then the universe will be replaced with a new and better one. One which will never go away, but will be permanent.

Life will not be destroyed. Unbelievers will go into the Lake of Fire and they will remain there forever. The location of the Lake of Fire will be unknown to us and forgotten.

Believers belong to God. Believers will not be included in this shake up of the universe. We will all be unaffected by the destruction of the universe. Actually we will be the witnesses of its destruction and of the re-creation of the new universe. We will get to watch the whole show, as it were.

Can we all enjoy this life too? Of course. You were put on this earth to prepare yourself for life. That includes having a life. Some of you will build rockets. Some of you will be inventors. Some of you will change diapers. Some will climb mountains. No matter what you do, God gave you your life as well as doctrine, so that while you are learning to live, you can also prepare yourself and grow up in your spiritual life too. Don t choose one at the expense of the other.

When you grow up spiritually, or should I say, while you are growing up spiritually, your daily life should go hand in hand with your spiritual growth. The two should compliment each other.

Just understand that this life is not your entire existence. This is only the very early stage of your life. Eternity is going to be a very long time. We all have an opportunity to begin it with great blessings attached. So, as for the doom and gloom part. Think of it as more of a win or lose approach to your future blessings.

The blessings are there and they are easy to claim. But too, they are just as easy to lose by simply ignoring God and doctrine in your daily life.

There will be a definite end to human history. Human history is divided up into dispensations. We are in the next to the last dispensation. The Age of Israel has only seven years remaining in it and then there is the Millennium, which will last 1000 years. So 1007 years plus the remainder of our dispensation (an unknown time frame) is all that there is left for human history. Our dispensation could last another day, o another century. None of us know when the Rapture will occur. But it will occur one day. That is certain.

Don t expect your great-great grand-children to fly off to the far end of the galaxy. Someone might go to Mars, but don t expect much more than that.

Enjoy your life. Do what you do, well. And remember to make your spiritual life a priority in your life, too. Your eternity will be far better for it.
