John 3:9-12

Lesson # John 3:9-12
Study Material - John 3:9-12

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

John 3:9-12

9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, 'How can these things be?' 10 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not understand these things? 11 'Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and you do not receive our witness. 12 'If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how shall you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

'How can this be?', is the response of Nicodemus. The natural man, the unbeliever, cannot understand the things of the spirit. Nicodemus persists in his ignorance and inability to understand what Jesus was teaching him. He comes to Jesus addressing Him as teacher, but he refuses to learn that which is being taught. Nicodemus has a lot of preconceived notions, and if Jesus taught that which he already knew, then Nicodemus would be pleased with the instruction, since it would agree with his existing knowledge. But Jesus does not go over Nicodemus's current beliefs, but instead comes up with something totally foreign to that which Nicodemus has been taught all his life. Nicodemus resists the new instruction, and Jesus addresses this resistance in verse 10.

'You, a teacher of Israel, do not understand the things you teach?' Jesus places him in his place of ignorance. Nicodemus is a student of scriptures, but more than that he is a student of the accepted thought related to the scriptures. The accepted thought was based on the interpretations by unbelievers however. Therefore, since unbelievers cannot understand scripture, then their interpretations are flawed, and their understanding is flawed as well. They made the scriptures fit their own agendas, their own desires of power and approbation lusts.

There are many so called experts in this world. Those who place themselves high on their own pedestals, pedestals of their own design, certifications of their own design, approvals of their own contemporaries. They define their own certification process and promote themselves from within their own hierarchy which too is of their own design.

The ignorant people of the world hold them in high esteem, which is exactly what they want, but this is all false and phony, and misdirected. The reality is that we should wish to have Gods esteem, not mans, to have Gods instruction, not mans, to have Gods wisdom, not mans, to be promoted by God, not man, to follow Gods plan for life, not mans plan.

But as Jesus teaches Nicodemus the very basic concepts of doctrine, and in a manner using earthly terms like birth and wind, Nicodemus still does not accept nor attempt to accept His instruction. Nicodemus does not receive the witness of Christ, who reiterates that this information is certain and true, and comes from the members of the Godhead, 'we'. Jesus speaks of things that 'we' know. All members of the Godhead are the source of truth and they speak of truth. Not of conjecture. Not from theory. Not from gossip or hearsay. But the philosophies of man, the concepts of evolution and the many religions of the world, are all based not on fact but on baseless concepts, and faulty logic. Jesus is the word and the word is God, and Jesus is God, and the information contained within the content of the scriptures is truth and certain.

The unbeliever, and the negative believer also, cannot understand the spiritual things of this life. They cannot even understand the things of this earth. They see life, they make theories and draw wrong conclusions. Thus Jesus makes this clear in that Nicodemus does not draw the correct conclusions even from the clearest instruction from Christ, and using terminology that is familiar to Nicodemus.

So, if mankind cannot make the correct conclusions of natural things, the basis of human life, the origin of the universe, the fundamental role of matter in the universe, even the weather patterns and their causes and such, then how can mankind understand spiritual things. And the answer is, of course, that man cannot understand spiritual things. That is not until they are born again, which means simply that man must first believe in Christ and as a result of that belief receive a human spirit in their bodies, a new birth, a spiritual birth. One which gains us a human spirit and the imputation of eternal life in our human spirit, just as we received human life in our physical bodies at the moment of our physical birth.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
