John 3:19-21

Lesson # John 3:19-21
Study Material - John 3:19-21

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

John 3:19-21

19 'And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. 20 'For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 'But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.'

Unbelief continues in this world and that is the worst of all failures in mans entire history. People who reject God have the worst possible futures. They reject the 'only' Son of God, they reject the one true God in general and manufacture their own version of a god. One that suits their own desires.

Unbelievers are condemned already as we read in the previous verses. They reject the notion that God holds the universe together, and to exist in this universe you need a relationship with God. By rejecting God they reject living in this universe and therefore condemn themselves to abandonment by God and an eternal separation from God and all that God touches.

God brings order. Where there is no God, there is chaos. And no created being can organize chaos on the scale of a universe. Man demonstrates that he cannot even bring or maintain good conditions for every single living human being on this planet. You do not have to look very far, or even hear very much news to know that there are flaws in this world, weaknesses, unfair situations. Most all of us, those of us who are normal, need only look inside our own lives to see weaknesses. If we cannot control our own thoughts how can mankind control the thoughts of others, or even control the world. And this planet earth, is very insignificant when you place it up against the universe.

So this is the judgment, rejection of God. Rejection of Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world. Jesus Christ has always been the light, the true light, which reveals all, even that which is evil. We get a glimpse of the truth when we learn Bible doctrine, which is our only connection to Gods wisdom and understanding. That is why a daily study of Bible doctrine is so important.

Rejection of God began with Lucifer (Satan), and continued with Adam and in every generation up to the current one and beyond. Rejection of God means only two options are available for each one of us. We can either run the universe ourselves, cure all our ills, gain eternal life on our own. And all of that is impossible, at least most normal people understand that. Or we can turn to God and accept His plan for defeating the hold that sin and death has over us. Smart people go for Gods plan.

And that plan begins with believing in Jesus Christ, which takes only a moment in time to accomplish. But after that initial belief, your life does not simply stop. You continue to live in this world and need to deal with all the realities the world throws at you. Therefore you need resources with which to deal with lifes problems, and that resource is Bible doctrine, which you need to learn. And of course learning requires a daily study. God takes care of all the rest. And as you study and grow up spiritually, you begin to realize this.

In general mankind reject God, rejects Jesus Christ. Since God is the light, then absence of God is darkness, and this darkness is absolute. Without any light, you cannot see anything. And if you cannot see anything, then you cannot orient to anything in life. Man has only his senses and mental capacity to assimilate those senses, touch, sight, smell, hearing, taste. There is the sixth sense, which is the spiritual sense, but unbelievers lack this sense by their rejection of Jesus Christ, therefore they lack the only means of understanding the truth about life.

Nicodemus is getting a complete lesson from God himself, yet Nicodemus is still in the dark. Here he has had an opportunity to converse with God and gain an relationship with God (Jesus Christ), and he is held back by his own refusal to accept what Jesus is teaching him. Yet Jesus continues to present him with enough information in order to make his decision. Unbelievers are their own worst enemy. Believers who refuse to study their Bible daily, who refuse to learn the secrets which doctrine present, are their own worst enemies.

By not pursuing the light, by not having a desire for Gods Word, we are said to hate it. God presents things in black and white. You either love God, that is have some kind of desire for getting to know and understand God, or you hate Him, that is you could care less about God. Everyone in history fits into these two categories. Believers who pursue their spiritual growth are lovers of the light, lovers of God and this is a very small group of people. There is a larger group of people who are believers as well, but they do not pursue a relationship with God. They do not advance in their spiritual life.

We each of us, need to practice truth and light, which simply means we study our Bible daily, we learn all that God has to teach us. We learn what it is that is expected of us. We learn how to study. We learn how to remain in fellowship so that we are in God presence spiritually. We learn all these things and much more.

The result is that all you do, all your deeds, will be from the source of what you know, which should be Bible doctrine, and therefore from God. This then is the production you strive for in your life. The production of doctrine is 'good' In contrast the production of the sin nature is 'evil'. And at the end of verse 21, Nicodemus is left with all he needs to know in order to make a decision. The absence of a revealed decision implies that he did not make the right decision, at least at this point in his life. Unbelievers always have enough information which is made clear to them such that they have no excuse.

Now we as believers face daily decisions too, but not for salvation, because we are already saved. Our decision is for spiritual growth, and that is a series of decisions made each day, to study our Bible and learn and grow. Our objective is spiritual maturity.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
