John 5:20

Lesson # John 5:20
Study Material - John 5:20

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

John 5:20

20 'For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and greater works than these will He show Him, that you may marvel.

There is only one God, God the Father, 1 Cor. 8:6, and one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things exist because of the Father. He set out the divine plan for all that is. Anything not in the plan does not exist. Only that which was included in the plan of God exists. All things were brought into existence because of the Son and sustained by the Son. Therefore we exist through the Son of God. There is no other through whom we have come into existence nor through whom we may be sustained.

There is open and continuous communication between the Father and the Son. They are on the same page so to speak. The Father loves the Son, 'This is my beloved Son.' Though the nations hate the Son (angelic realms, human realms), Isa. 49:7, the Father has an unchanging and perfect love for the Son, and in that love there is perfect security and strength and confidence.

Therefore, because of this perfect love and continuous communication, the Father shows the Son all things. In which case the Son can execute all things in perfect consistency and accuracy with the plan of the Father. There is no alternate plan, no alternate action taken by the Son.

The Son has no separate life from that of the Father, they share and possess the same eternal life, Ex. 3:14, 'I Am.' The Fathers love, 'filea', is a deep and affectionate and close love for the object of the love, the Son.

Because there are no secrets between the two, then their relationship is perfect and unblemished. Therefore, the Father shows the Son all his counsels and the Son acts accordingly.

The greater things than have been shown by the Son to those peoples round about will place those who are positive to God, in awe. They have seen the healing of those with fevers, those with paralysis, those with hearing and sight defects. Even some who have died, have been brought back to life. Yet there are many who still do not believe in Christ. 'Greater than these,' are yet to come. He will go to the Cross and pay the price for all of humanity, setting free everyone who has ever lived and will ever live, from the bonds of sin and death.

He will himself be raised from the dead after three days in the grave. He will obliterate the universe and create a new heaven and earth. He will give freely to those who advance to spiritual maturity, things beyond their imaginations, things beyond their thought capabilities.

And marvel we will. But our marvel will be a different kind of marvel. Those who tagged along with Jesus were entertained by the miracles. We will be awed into humble worship at His awesome power and love.

Yet despite all the Bible says, yet despite all that history has recorded, yet despite all that we sooner or later experience in life, there will be a huge population that will reject Christ and pursue something else which has absolutely no basis in truth. People will reach out for their own plan, one of their own design. Even the Son of God, who has lived forever and since eternity past, who has seen and interacted with the Father, and has seen the great detail of the Plan of God in all its vastness, and even in the minutest detail, will not deviate from that Plan, because it is perfect. Yet mankind, even angels decide that they can come up with something better. Lacking omniscience, lacking power, lacking ability, lacking even control over their own existence, creatures have their arrogance and their delusions of self determination apart from God.

Even the Son will not separate Himself from the essence of the Father, and the Son is certainly capable, batter than we, of taking off on a separate course, yet He does not.

Man marvels at his own inventions, technology, and discovery. But man discovers that which already exists. Man did not invent physics, nor can man change it, but can only figure out how things of the universe work and perhaps put them to some use. Thus we have our toys and things that enhance our lives. But life itself is still elusive. Man cannot measure it, nor even define it, nor even separate it from the creature that God gave life to and put it back again.

We can decide for ourselves of course. We can decide for God and His love and His relationship He makes available for us as the Son did, or we can go our own way and find something better!

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
