John 5:23-24

Lesson # John 5:23-24
Study Material - John 5:23-24

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

John 5:23-24

23 in order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 24 'Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

' .. in order that.' Here is the culmination of the reasons for giving Jesus Christ all these authorities. ' .. in order that all may honor the Son.'

Here is the stage where a relationship with God is set apart from all natural religions. Christianity is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. By that definition, Christianity is not a religion, it depends on God doing all the work and God receiving all the credit. Man (that is you and me) does no work in Christianity and man certainly receives no credit.

All other religions are based on mans acquiring a relationship with God (or some higher realm) through mans efforts to rise above our current level and better ourselves in some fashion, and that concept is the great lie which entraps into misery, those who follow that assumption.

Honor, 'timao,' to prize, revere, fix a valuation upon, esteemed, costly, beloved, precious with intrinsic value. Jesus Christ is the target or object of that honor.

Even as the honor is to be bestowed on the Father. Honor is assumed to be held for God. All religions have their gods or things to which worship is directed. Many have things such as idols or cosmic bodies (moon, Jupiter), or animals or fish and so forth. These all receive honors from those who would worship them, even though this worship is misdirected and in error. But the Father is due honor and that is assumed by default. Here Christ states that this same honor is due the son by virtue that the Father has given the Son all these authorities and the Son has accepted all these authorities in complete compliance with the Plan issued by the Father.

Jesus is stating from Psa. 69:9, in that any reproach issued to the Son, that is to say, any rejection of the Son, is the same as rejecting the Father, because this is the plan and policy of the Father. If anyone rejects the Father's plan, then they reject the Father.

Note too that Christianity is a term which has arisen since the time of Jesus Christ, but this is the same Jesus who existed in eternity past. The Hebrew word for the Greek word of Jesus, is Joshua. We could easily call ourselves followers of Joshua. Both have the same meaning. Christ is the God who walked with Adam in the Garden, spoke to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and so forth. He is the same Son of God whom the scriptures (Old Testament) speak of, just as the New Testament speaks of Jesus Christ and we have come to know Him by that name.

This single component in faith sets us apart from all other religions and beliefs in the world throughout history. All other religions are rejected by God. They are lies and seek only to confuse the issue with those who remain naive.

God has sent His Son. Christ is the Ambassador from heaven. If a nation sends an ambassador and that ambassador is rejected or insulted, then the nation sending him is insulted as well. We, now being believers in Christ, are ambassadors. In fact, we are royal ambassadors (see the list of blessings on the Bible Study Index page). If the world rejects us, the world rejects God the Father as well. So the same principle applies even through each one of us.

The Son is our leader, our King. God has given Him the highest of honors such that one day every knew will bend, every head will bow in honor of Him, Phil. 2:11.

Jesus repeats and states a second 'truly, truly.' Hear this which is about to be said, because it is a serious subject. A subject that everyone should hear and take deep consideration from. There will be a judgment one day. We have already seen that that 'date' has already been set. It is a date that will not be postponed nor canceled.

For those who believe in the plan of the Father (believe in Jesus Christ), then judgment will not apply to them. There is a pardon issued to those who believe. Christ's design and purpose is to bring us to the Father who is God, 2 Cor. 4:6. His design (Christ) is the principle of grace, and the object of our faith.

If we accept the plan of the Father (faith in Christ, His first advent, He went to the Cross to receive the penalty of our sins, and so forth) then there is no judgment, no condemnation for us both for now (from the moment when we first believe in Christ) nor even in eternity, Rom. 8:1.

This is eternal security. It cannot be taken from us. There is nothing we can do, once we have believed in Christ, to lose our salvation. Only arrogant and stupid people think they can commit some unpardonable sin that would cause them to lose their salvation. There is only one road to eternal destruction and that road is merely not believing in Jesus Christ.

The first 'truly, truly' suggests that Jesus is the Son of God, who is on the same game plan as that of the Father, that plan which the Father designed. As such Jesus has committed Himself to comply with that plan. The Father has given all judgment, even its execution, even the creation of life and the restoration of life at His leisure. The Son has been given all authority and dominion over all of creation. There is no other.

The second truly, truly' tells us that we need to take these words into serious consideration and believe them lest we fall through the cracks of history and end up in eternal destruction. Why? Because there is only one God. There is only one path (Jesus Christ) the God and there is only one who holds this universe together. To reject all the words of the one who holds all things together is to say you can find another who can do the same. That is total stubborn stupidity.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
