John 5:37-38

Lesson # John 5:37-38
Study Material - John 5:37-38

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

John 5:37-38

37 'And the Father who sent Me, He has borne witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 'And you do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent.

There is the witness of the Father also the Spirit, Matt. 3:17, where both a dove descended on Jesus and a voice came out from heaven that all present could see and hear the official anointing of Jesus, the Lamb of God, as indicated by John the Baptist.

This story was well known, yet disregarded. Why have these people not seen nor heard the voice or person of the Father? They do not believe.

All people when born into this world are born body and soul. They have the biological (life) assigned to the body (vessel for holding that life) from the moment of their conception. They have human (life) imputed into the soul (vessel for holding that life) at the moment of their physical birth when God breathes 'neshamah' the spark or life or the breath of life into them. But this is only body and soul with the respective life's inside each. They humans are incomplete until they believe in Christ at which point a third vessel, the human spirit, is regenerated (reborn, born again are common terms for this) inside of them and eternal life is imputed in that human spirit vessel.

These people that Jesus is speaking to have neither heard doctrine nor do they understand it because they lack that third component of their essence. The human spirit is a necessary element which is required for the hearing and learning and understanding of Bible doctrine. All scripture with its spiritual value, goes to the soul through the human spirit. A person has to be in fellowship because the Holy Spirit needs to be in control of the soul, and is in control only when the person is in fellowship, in order to make this communication mechanism function properly and as it was intended.

Certainly a person, any person, can read the Bible and learn the words. Jesus will take that topic up in the verse 39. Satan has read the Bible. Satan know it forwards and backwards. He even quoted scripture to Jesus when they were in the desert, and he even quoted it outside of its proper context (intentionally).

Anyone can read a book and that information enters into the soul via the normal processes of learning (sight, hearing, etc.), but this is academic learning. We have all experienced it in our school days and even throughout our lives. We learn academically. That is, information enters directly into our soul, but this information is in the non-spiritual realm. It is of this world and not beyond. This is how you learn to read and write, how you learn your alphabet, science, math, music, cooking and just about everything else in life that you learn on a day to day basis. Again this is not spiritual information.

It takes a spiritual mechanism, not the senses (eyes, ears, hands, nose, tongue), in order to learn spiritual information. Certainly it enters your head in the same fashion (reading, hearing) but in the spiritual realm, the Holy Spirit takes that spiritual information and diverts it into the human spirit which in turn redirects it into the soul where a special building process occurs in your soul. There are a couple of charts on the Index page that will help you see the process.

What you are building in your soul is a palace, or temple if you will. The foundation and structure are composed of Bible doctrine. As you use what you know (doctrinally) in your daily life, then that recirculation of information and wisdom become the finishing components (gold, silver, and precious stones) of your 'soul' palace.

To the unbeliever, all spiritual information is foolishness because it is merely academic information and they understand it not! This is what Jesus is telling these argumentative types. They present themselves as experts in the Law, in God, in all things spiritual, but in fact they are unbelievers and they know nothing about the spiritual realm.

They have neither seen nor heard the Father, of course neither has anyone else, but we as believers see and hear the Father through seeing the Son, and through our daily study in scripture. They reject the Son, therefore they do not see the truth.

The Father devised the Plan. That plan included the sending of the Son. To reject the Son, who is the focal point, the corner stone of the Plan, the central and principle subject of the plan, is to reject the Father, to reject God altogether.

It is also important to note that since academic issues of learning are not a part of spiritual learning, that since it is the Holy Spirit who picks up the information and funnels it through the human spirit to the soul, then there is complete fairness to the individual regardless of their IQ or academic talent. Those human abilities are irrelevant. The dumbest person who ever lived can achieve spiritual maturity as easily as the smartest. God is fair. Everyone has an equal opportunity and equal access to spiritual growth.

Often times the smart people have their IQ' s get in their way of learning. They over rationalize, over think, over use their logic and so forth. When Bible doctrine and the spiritual life should be the simplest thing in the world, they make it into something of a burden in learning.

Jesus has referred to John as one witness, but mere man is not an adequate witness. Man has not been around since the beginning of time. Jesus uses His miracles as evidence of His identity, yet people are fixated on the 'show' and rationalize that the miracles are pure magic or just not real. People even in our current day refuse to believe that these events took place.

Jesus refers to the Father now as a credible witness, but when it comes to those who do not believe, this witness if not effective, because they lack the necessary ingredients (human spirit) to understand and comprehend it. They are unbelievers. They have refused to believe Christ who was sent by the Father.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
