John 13:3

Lesson # John 13:3
Study Material - John 13:3

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

John 13:3

3 Jesus [Iesous] knowing [eido] that [hoti] the Father [pater] had given [didomi] all things [pas] into [eis] his [autos] hands [cheir] , and [kai] that [hoti] he was come [exerchomai] from [apo] God [theos] , and [kai] went [hupago] to [pros] God [theos] ; KJV-Interlinear

John 13:3

3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God, and was going back to God, NASB

Jesus Christ is eternal. He is God. He has always existed. There never was a time when He did not exist. Jesus Christ knows the truth of the realities of history since eternity past, and up until today, and forever into the future. There is nothing He does not know.

Jesus Christ created the angels in an instant. They all sang together. He created the universe in an instant, with angels as witness to that event. And now here He is, having come to earth in the form of a man, willing to suffer, as we would view, the things that are going to happen to Him. But from truth, as God He does not suffer at all. He merely endures that which is necessary to give us all a chance at living with God in heaven, in a place of absolute perfection, forever and ever.

He came from God. Jesus Christ is co-equal with the Father. He was resident in heaven with the Father and from that place, came to earth. The Father did not create the Son as some religions would have you believe. God did not have a mommy or a daddy.

Jesus Christ will return (in human form) to the Father and will be seated at His right hand. Language for our benefit to signify His acquisition of absolute honor, power, and authority. Anyone who is in authority is always seated or walking or placed on the right. The general is always to the right of the subordinate. The dog is always at the left of the human master. This is an ancient protocol of authority and respect for the position of the one who has the higher rank.

Jesus is the ancient of days, Dan. 7:13. He is the one who will be seated on the right hand of the Father, Psa. 110:1. Note that God cannot seat, but man can. So in order to be able to seat as an equal with the Father, then that person must be both God and man, whom Jesus is - the unique person of the universe.

Jesus Christ knew His destiny at all times. There never was a time when He did not know His destiny. All comments that He made, 'Father let this cup pass from Me,' and other such passages, teach us that this is not an option. If Christ did not approach the Cross, then you and I would have no future. So the question is a rhetorical one. If the Cross could pass from Christ then there would be another option for salvation, but there isn't. All the religions, all the philosophies, all the wishes in the world will never replace the work of Christ on the Cross. He knew it, and we should know and understand it, and the why of it all, lest you be tempted to stray off into some other system of belief.

Jesus Christ is God. He knows it. We see the true nature of God by looking at Jesus Christ. Yet He being God, is going to do something that probably none of us would do for each other, at least not spontaneously. And what do you think that might be? One hint - look at the next two verses and I'll just bet that you think you know what this is all about, but you probably will be wrong.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
