You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Jude 1:20-21

20 But [de] ye [humeis], beloved [agapetos], building up [epoikodomeo] yourselves [heautou] on your [humon] most holy [hagios] faith [pistis], praying [proseuchomai] in [en] the Holy [hagios] Ghost [pneuma],
21 Keep [tereo] yourselves [heautou] in [en] the love [agape] of God [theos], looking for [prosdechomai] the mercy [eleos] of our [hemon] Lord [kurios] Jesus [Iesous] Christ [Christos] unto [eis] eternal [aionios] life [zoe]. KJV-Interlinear

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith; praying in the Holy Spirit; 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. NASB

In contrast to those people who pursue their sin natures, even in their pretense of Christianity or some other belief, and of whom are the total cause of all problems in this world, then there is you, the believer in Christ.

The believer in Christ who is positive toward God and doctrine, and actively pursuing your spiritual life toward spiritual maturity.

You who are building yourselves up bit by bit, brick by brick, stone by stone, one piece of material put in place then followed by another piece of building material. Your building material is Bible doctrine. You learn a little here and a little there. A little bit today, and a little bit tomorrow.

Like the tortoise who moved very slow in the race, and unlike the rabbit who had all of the speed but lacked any focus or concentration, you advance a little each day in your spiritual life.

Isa. 28:10
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

At the end you win with phenomenal spiritual wealth which translates into real wealth beyond imagination in eternity.

Your wealth and growth are dependent upon Bible doctrine, exercised and circulating within your soul. You do not build yourself up by pumping iron on the beach. Not by eating a diet of carbs or no carbs. Not by humming in the corner with your cat sitting nearby. Not by surgical cosmetics. Not by attending the best of schools. Not by getting to know and rubbing elbows with, those who are in the mainstream of social life. Not by saving every dollar you ever earned in your life. None of the worldly activities you engage in will ever build you up either for this life or the next.

Your earthly activities are there to temporarily sustain you and to help you have the time to invest in your single most important activity in life - your spiritual growth. Your earthly activities are supplemental training aids to help you learn and apply what you learn, and to grow up spiritually. Your earthly activities are not your sole focus nor your ultimate destiny in life.

One of the most important aspects of your spiritual life is your prayer life and that must function within the fellowship sphere which God has defined as the environment of access to Him. Prayer includes all of your Bible study activities, all of your offerings of thanks to God, all of your requests and petitions, all of your thoughts and actions while in fellowship, day and night, asleep or awake.

This is your mandate from God.

Ezra 7:10
10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD, and to practice it, NASB

2 Tim. 2:15
15 Study to show thyself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. NASB

Gen. 17:1-2
'I am God Almighty; Walk before Me, and be blameless.' NASB

And this is in keeping with all that God wants from you. To be obedient to His Word in all that you do in life. To maintain your life in love (agape), which is not emotional feelings or group hugs, but simply pursuing Gods principles and utilizing them in your daily life, 1-3 Jn. And, you can only accomplish this if you study daily and be consistent in your advance toward spiritual maturity.

And to what end from all of this? Eternal life and life in heaven with God forever.

We are not on this earth to rule the stars, to make mankind grow up into some social or intellectual being, not even to bring peace and love into the world. Our present temporal life is not our primary focus nor should it be.

In this present life, in our present day to day life, God has given each one of us resources (intellect, physical gifts, mental gifts, artistic gifts, innovative gifts, and so forth) to help us maintain our lives and to help others, while we advance and learn in our spiritual growth.

Our sole objective in life is to advance to spiritual maturity and therefore be prepared for our eternal life in Gods kingdom forever. And to that end, we anxiously await the fulfillment of our hopes and dreams, and much, much, much more.
