Mark 1:21-22

Lesson # Mark 1:21-22
Study Material - Mark 1:21-22

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Mark 1:21-22

21 And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach. 22 And they were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

John the Baptist taught in the wilderness. Jesus went from city to city and taught in the synagogues, in peoples homes, along the sea shore. Anywhere there is positive volition, there is a valid church or opportunity to teach and/or learn Bible doctrine. Location is of no consequence.

The scribes taught in the temple. The scribes expected people to come to 'Gods temple'. The attitude was that they were the chosen ones of God, by way of the Levitical priesthood. That the temple was the 'chosen' place of assembly, and therefore any who did not come to the temple could not receive legitimate instruction.

But this argument breaks down as the synagogues began to pop up in the various communities, as people fell away, in general, from their faith, so an easing of the rules was in order to accommodate a population that would rise up against the priests if the priests were to be stubborn in their regulations. This would of course be tantamount to political suicide, for these politically minded theologians.

Priests taught from rote. They taught from the books of Moses, or Isaiah, or any other book they happened to be reading from at the moment. They would read, or recite the words, but without their meaning. They did not have the words installed in their soul by means of the human spirit, because they were unbelievers and had no human spirit.

Information gets into your soul by two mechanisms. Academically or spiritually. These are the only two ways in which we learn. Academically we read, we learn, we apply, and do it all over again. This is our educational process of life. This too, has its deficiencies, handicaps, inequalities with respect to mankind in general.

Learning is dependent on ones mental abilities, IQ, and so forth. We are not all smart. One or two are really smart whizzes in class, in business, and such. They get the high scores, high honors, most likely to succeed votes and such. They are the 'A' students in life.

Most of the rest of us are in the 'B' or even the 'C' or average category. Some are in the 'D' or below average category. Some are below that and are just plain dumb, lazy, or for whatever reason, they just cannot digest the learning process. They might have genetic defects of some type. They might have handicaps of some type. But whatever the reasons, all people do not have the same mental capacities or abilities. So life, in this respect, is unfair to those who are not in the genius class, and that takes in most all of us.

The second type of learning is spiritual. In this mechanism, God the Holy Spirit does all the work. He communicates to gospel to unbelievers and makes it clear. He communicates the scriptures to believers via their human spirit and makes it clear. People need only to believe what they understand, and anyone can understand what the Holy Spirit teaches. So in this respect there is equality for all peoples, whether dumb or smart.

Now for the priests. They neither knew nor understood what they were reading. They could not teach what they did not possess. They had no authority in their words.

Jesus Christ, on the other hand, both knew, understood, and possessed Bible doctrine, and consequently spoke with authority. For those who were borderline believers or borderline positive, Christ performed miracles, both to prove His authenticity and authority, and to establish His credentials as the Savior

Therefore, people heard His words, and were amazed at His message. Truth is always fresh and clear, and proves to be a relief to ones soul and life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
