Matthew 6:25-26

Lesson # Matt. 6:25-26
Study Material - Matt. 6:25-26

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 6:25-26

25 'For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing? 26 'Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

Anxiety and worry are common characteristics of a person who is negative toward God. On the other side of the coin, a person who is positive toward God and, therefore, is advancing toward spiritual maturity, has poise, relief, tranquility, self assurance, confidence.

This then is one of the results of spiritual maturity, or at least advancement in that direction - a relaxed mental attitude. Of the basic needs in life, food, clothing, shelter, and many other things, are common to all people.

God created the universe. He restored the world and in so doing He dressed it (the earth) all up for mankind so he would not enter into a desolate place. God placed animals, plants, even a watering system of springs and such, making everything ready for the advent of man. I would almost bet that God did the same for the angels when He created the universe (complete with life of various types) instantly and in their presence. I don't think that God would create a desolate universe for the angels, but a beautiful universe with all manner of beautiful animal life and so forth. But we know that Lucifer rebelled and destroyed the universe including earth and all the animal life (the dinosaurs, plant life, etc.). We know that dinosaurs lived prior to man, so it is reasonable to assume that life existed elsewhere in the universe, and we know that they were destroyed, and we know that Lucifer (Satan) was the responsible party for the destruction and chaos that came into the universe, Isa. 45:18, 14:17 (God did not create the universe a waste land, but Satan caused the waste land). After which God restored earth in six days and rested on the seventh.

We know from all our technological discoveries today that the universe is indeed a very complex place. From deep space to the depths of the ocean to the depths under the microscope and beyond, there is an almost infinite continuation of knowledge out there just waiting to be discovered. And even beyond all of the physical knowledge there still is the concept of life itself - of the soul, of angels which exist but are unseen, and undetectable.

God has taken care of all the details. Even in society God gave us various laws of establishment, including volition, authority, business concepts, and more, in order to help mankind to continue his own existence without self destruction. Long ago man was alone on the earth. No technology, no medicines, yet he still survived. Throughout the centuries man has been attacked by himself, by diseases, by nature on the rampage, and still man continues.

In your own life, your beginning was from a totally helpless condition - infancy. How many of came forth from our mothers womb and immediately went to work? Of course none of us did. Someone had to nurse us and change us and teach us as we grew up in life. Certainly monkeys did none of this. God created Adam and cared for and taught him and thus set into motion the pattern of parents having and raising children for every generation until now and the pattern will continue until the end of human history.

God takes care of the animals of this planet, and as we see here, mankind is far more valuable than any animal life that exists. Man has a soul and animal life has no soul. Man has a forever existence in his soul and human life that resides in that soul. Animals live for the moment and then cease. Perhaps some government legislators should consider this when they make environmental policy - people first. When it comes to choosing between animals or people, then people should get the first consideration and never left out cold on behalf of some fish or lizard or some other animal life form. Ok, couldn't resist that one. We have a situation here in southern Oregon, where that issue has been decided against peoples lives on behalf of a fish. But when Bible doctrine is absent from society, priorities get mixed up, and people get hurt. Ok, no more preaching.

Since God takes care of all life forms. And let me repeat that - since God takes care of all life forms (including fish), and since God thinks of man as being more valuable than the animals that he cares for, then isn't it reasonable to assume that God will take even better care of each one of us? Of course.

So God teaches us of the two opinions in this world - His and everything else. He teaches us that if we follow His opinions, then our life will be stable, safe, secure. That all our needs will be taken care of forever. But on the other hand, if we ignore God, then we live in the jungle of opinions absent Gods influence, and we are subject to that jungle and its ever changing laws and prejudices. The jungle also is enhanced with worry and anxiety, for which there is no cure or means of easing their grip on a person. The jungle is ruthless and takes no prisoners. And that is exactly what life is when you ignore God.

Jesus Christ began this dissertation in chapter 5, with the fundamentals of spiritual growth. He continued with descriptions of how your thinking process and how your choices in life should be guided. These tidbits are fundamental foundations for spiritual growth and should be the first things learned in ones Christian life. On these principles you continue to learn and grow spiritually, and in turn you should begin to gel in your spiritual life into a person with poise and self confidence with respect to life around you as well as your own sense of destiny, and even in your own self esteem. All this regardless of the problems that you will face throughout your life. Your life should be guided by what you learn and the doctrine you retain in your soul, not by the environment that always changes around you.

Life always throws us curves. We might get tossed overboard for a fish, we might lose our job, our marriage, our home, our family, our health, and the list continues. All these things are mere details in life that add up to nothing. Look back on your life. If your are older, say maybe in your 80's, or 60's, or 40's, or 20's, or whatever your age is, then you have some history behind you. How did you survive all those years? You always had some form of income or support. You always had clothing, and a place to stay. And you are still alive now. Go ahead and check your pulse. See you are still here. 'But, but!' you say, 'That was yesterday and tomorrow's threats are different!!!!!' And I say, 'No they aren't.'

God takes care of His own. Of course if you are negative toward God then you have chosen to embrace the jungle for your livelihood, and the jungle has its own rules which are not in your favor.

But God has His rules and they are in your favor. Remember fellowship? That sphere of power that results while residing inside it with God? Think of it as one of those defense shields that those star ships in the movies have. Our fellowship shield is impenetrable. The power of God is where its gets its strength.

Though we cannot see it, nor sense it in any way, it is there, and it is very real. If you live inside that shield, then God is your fortress, your defense, your support, your security. Outside that shield the jungle has free reign over you, and you have no defense. Inside your shield you have no need for worry or anxiety of any kind. So would it be better to get with the program of daily Bible study that will result in the best life possible? And, let God do all the providing for you? He will anyway, so you might as well recognize that formally, then relax. You'll be the happier for it.
