Matthew 10:23

Lesson # Matt. 10:23
Study Material - Matt. 10:23

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 10:23

23 But [de] when [hotan] they persecute [dioko] you [humas] in [en] this [taute] city [polis] , flee ye [pheugo] into [eis] another [allos] : for [gar] verily [amen] I say [lego] unto you [humin] , Ye shall [teleo] not [ou me] have gone over [teleo] the cities [polis] of Israel [Israel] , till [heos] the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] be [an] come [erchomai] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 10:23

23 'But whenever they persecute you in this city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you shall not finish going through the cities of Israel, until the Son of Man comes. NAS

I have been asked why I have not mentioned the results of the recent election here in the US, and that is because many folks from all over the world receive this lesson. I presume that they have little interest or even an understanding of the politics of our country. Just as you and I, who live here in the States, have little knowledge of what the local issues are in Australia for example, or the Philippines, other than what we hear on the international news. And that news is probably limited to some terrorist bombing or such or similar event. So I don't spend too much time on political news. I do however mention the dangers of liberalism because that is an international concept and is not limited to us here in the US. In short, the election went very well. The conservative philosophy withstood the liberal, and I think that, that means that we have still a greater population here in the US that is pro-Bible doctrine (ie subscribing to the principles of common sense and reason taught in the Bible, because our society has a heavy influence which originates from a Biblical foundation), rather than pro-human viewpoint. Human viewpoint tends to be self serving and deceitful. We are already aware that a prominent liberal senator died recently in an airplane accident, followed by a disgraceful memorial service, and these are just a couple of events that I believe did not happen by accident or by chance. These, combined with many other events over the past year, have shaped this election and have brought us to where we are today. I have stated before and will again, that we may not see the purpose of any one single event, but we do have the ability to identify trends in history. Our trend here in America is to remain a conservative republic. That is good for America and good for the world. But too, over the last few decades, the liberal thought has been growing and will sooner or later rise to rule, if God is ignored by society in general. We can only hope that, that day will be postponed for a long time. And yes, Fox News is a very good news channel. Ok, enough said on that.

The Apostles are receiving their lesson and warning as to what they are to expect when they are turned loose on the world. These problems will not be faced until after the ascension of Christ. While Christ was with them, they had relatively safe and secure lives. When Christ died on the Cross, they were beside themselves and totally lost - back to the fishing boats. The resurrection, and the forty days spent with Christ following the resurrection had some impact on them, but it was not really until Pentecost and their reception of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (first time in history that this had occurred by the way) that they finally began to gel in their spiritual lives. This is when the pressures and persecution, because of their faith, began.

They are now given more good advice. Everywhere they go they will be received graciously and sometimes they will be met with adversity. In those places, where their message is met with defiant attitudes, then they are to move on to another city. Better to move on to where the message of the gospel will be received, than to remain and butt heads with stubborn and defiant folks. Stubbornness and defiant attitudes will escalate into violence if the issue is pressed too far. They were to learn when it is good to teach, and when it is time to stop and move on to another place.

From the time of the ascension until the second advent, there will be unbelievers. Not everyone will be converted or convinced, so anyone who gets into a discussion with others needs to expect that not everyone will be won over. Likewise we need to learn when someone is truly interested in learning as opposed to someone who is engaging in a debate just to ridicule and play with us mentally.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
