Matthew 11:25-26

Lesson # Matt. 11:25-26
Study Material - Matt. 11:25-26

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 11:25-26

25 At [en] that [ekeinos] time [kairos] Jesus [Iesous] answered [apokrinomai] and said [epo] , I thank [exomologeo] thee [soi] , O Father [pater] , Lord [kurios] of heaven [ouranos] and [kai] earth [ge] , because [hoti] thou hast hid [apokrupto] these things [tauta] from [apo] the wise [sophos] and [kai] prudent [sunetos] , and [kai] hast revealed [apokalupto] them [autos] unto babes [nepios] .
26 Even so [nai] , Father [pater] : for [hoti] so [houto] it seemed [ginomai] good [eudokia] in thy [sou] sight [emprosthen] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 11:25-26

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, 'I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou didst hide these things from the wise and intelligent and didst reveal them to babes. 26 'Yes, Father, for thus it was well-pleasing in Thy sight. NAS

God the Father has sovereign control over salvation. Salvation is a provision of the Lord of heaven and earth, and is not a result of man's wisdom, plans, purposes, or power. Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, for there is no other person or means by which we may gain access to God, is the single and only path to salvation. All the other religions and philosophies of the world are totally false. They may have good intentions, but that does not make them honorable nor even worthy in any form. False doctrine is false doctrine, and all things that are false and therefore against God, are totally evil.

Jesus now out loud, so that the public may all hear, gives thanks to God the Father, who designed the Plan of the Divine Decrees, and to whom all persons should give thanks, because if man were to enter into the planning picture, then there would be all manner of exceptions, rules, regulations, special situations, lowered standards, privileged persons, and bias against those who might now fit some informal profile.

That is of course what the Pharisees of the day were trying to design and impose on all their followers. The Pharisees were a type or pattern of exactly what goes on even in our current day. Too many people have their own ideas and try to impose them on others. The naive (those who lack Bible knowledge) follow the false doctrines. The wise (those who possess Bible knowledge) see the false and seek out the truth and they find it through their Bible study.

Doctrine is hidden from those who reject God, from those who are disinterested in God. We only have two choices in life from which to choose. We are either with God, or we are against Him. Being with God means daily study, perpetual fellowship or restoration to fellowship when ones falls out of fellowship, consistent learning, application of learned doctrines and principles to ones daily life, experiencing life and seeing the results of Gods wisdom as you apply it to your own life, and continuing this cycle of learning, and application and growth from day to day such that you learn and become mature and ever stronger in your faith.

This requires and characteristic of babe's - dependence. It also required the characteristic of humility - subordinating human wisdom and attitude to that of Gods wisdom.

The wise of the world are not saved by means of their own wisdom. Human intellect, human knowledge cannot attain any form of a relationship with God. Human intellect is bound to this world to that which we can only measure by means of our five senses. Logic is merely the application of known facts to possible situations, and still bound to the physical world.

The spiritual sphere of our existence is beyond the physical and cannot be measured by man. Thus those who are wise in their own eyes and refuse to learn in accordance to Gods designed learning process (ie. in the sphere of fellowship, the Holy Spirit communicating doctrine through ones human spirit, then into the soul), then those who reject this learning process will never learn spiritual truth. All things spiritual are foolishness.

Babe's on the other hand learn by trust (faith). They are dependent on others for everything. Babies cannot take care of themselves. Thus adult humans must learn humility (subordinating their own attitude) and surrender to God. Human marriage is a prefect example in all its forms to this principle - the wife surrendering to the husband, both in the mental attitude and in the physical relationship. Surrender does not make one a slave. Just as authority does not make one a dictator. A blending of the two bring both parties together into a single unit.

As one receives more and more information regarding God, and as one continues to be defiant against God, then troubles mount in the life. If the single unit does not get along, then it crumbles. Those who reject God eventually end up destroyed. They may take a lot of people with them, but then each person is responsible for their own decisions. There are no excuses.

Just as babies or young people, or mentally impaired people are saved automatically, 2 Sam. 12, because they have never reached an age of responsibility, then so too are those who believe in Christ. Faith and faith alone is all it takes to be saved. Through no effort or credit due to our own efforts, we are saved because of the tremendous wisdom of the Father. He alone designed salvation, and He alone directed its path through Jesus Christ.

Of all the generations in history, that generation that lived during the time of Christ's first advent had the greatest opportunity to see and hear and interact face to face with God. The majority were not interested despite the tremendous miracles that were being performed. Who else could cure all ailments? Who else could raise the dead to life again? No one.

Humility and dependence are the first of five characteristics which are necessary in a person in order to advance to an attitude that will allow one to believe in Christ. Without these two, people simply are not interested or they see themselves on a higher or different plane than God. These two characteristics are important ingredients in forming a relationship with God, just as they are important in forming relationships within the human realm (marriage, friendships, etc.).

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
