Matthew 11:29-30

Lesson # Matt. 11:29-30
Study Material - Matt. 11:29-30

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 11:29-30

29 Take [airo] my [mou] yoke [zugos] upon [epi] you [humas] , and [kai] learn [manthano] of [apo] me [emou] ; for [hoti] I am [eimi] meek [praos] and [kai] lowly [tapeinos] in heart [kardia] : and [kai] ye shall find [heurisko] rest [anapausis] unto your [humon] souls [psuche] .
30 For [gar] my [mou] yoke [zugos] is easy [chrestos] , and [kai] my [mou] burden [phortion] is [esti] light [elaphros] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 11:29-30

29 'Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. 30 'For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.' NAS

The fifth characteristic a person needs in order to clear the way for a spiritual life is submission. Remember that all of these characteristics are voluntary on the persons part. God does not force us in any way. We voluntarily make the choice to believe, to learn, to grow up as it were.

The yoke is a piece of rigging with which a team of oxen or horses are tied together and come under the control of the one driving them. It is a cross bar which rides on the shoulders and then is linked around the head of the animal with a 'U' shaped piece.

There are two kinds of yokes in life. The yoke of the world is filled with things that create burdens and cause weariness on people. Laws, regulation, rituals, societies morals or popular beliefs, peer pressure, the lusts of the soul that drive one to acquire more of whatever is lusted for, the inordinate competition which apply constant pressure on people in the work place, in politics, in bureaucracies, in social settings and so forth.

The yoke of life burdensome and brings nothing but misery, stress, and old age. At the end of ones life, nothing is ever gained.

The other yoke of life is the spiritual yoke which Christ invites us all to take upon ourselves. This yoke again binds us together with Christ, but we must give up the yoke of the world, in order to take on the yoke of Christ. His yoke brings peace, rest, prosperity. God does all of the work, and we receive the benefits of that work.

In the worlds yoke we carry the load of the work and gain nothing in the long run.

Therefore we have yet another choice. Do we want the yoke and burdens of the world? Knowing that when we die (we will all die sooner or later), our entire effort in life will be left behind and someone else will enjoy the benefits of our work, and probably squander them.

Or, do we want the yoke of Christ, wherein we do no work, and receive blessings and benefits forever?

Salvation is the easiest thing to attain. We merely believe in Christ. A thought which takes but a second or two. We need only believe once in our life and we are saved forever. I presume that most all of the folks reading these words are saved and have probably been saved since they were very young. I also presume that most folks reading this Bible study haven't done much with their spiritual life!!!! Having believed in Christ when a child, and then just faded into the everyday rhythm of life from school to adulthood. We all just get busy.

Then sooner or later our inner need for more info on God, our inner need for something better in life leads us in the search for a study of some kind. We might have searched diligently for it, or we might just have stumbled into it. No matter. God brought you here for a reason. And of course everyone has the option of remaining with whatever Bible study they have or moving on to something else.

To receive a spiritual life requires a submission of ones self to the instructional environment of Bible study, then to the daily application of what you learn to your life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
