Matthew 12:33-34

Lesson # Matt. 12:33-34
Study Material - Matt. 12:33-34

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 12:33-34

33 Either [e] make [poieo] the tree [dendron] good [kalos] , and [kai] his [autos] fruit [karpos] good [kalos] ; or else [e] make [poieo] the tree [dendron] corrupt [sapros] , and [kai] his [autos] fruit [karpos] corrupt [sapros] : for [gar] the tree [dendron] is known [ginosko] by [ek] his fruit [karpos] .
34 O generation [gennema] of vipers [echidna] , how [pos] can ye [dunamai] , being [on] evil [poneros] , speak [laleo] good things [agathos] ? for [gar] out of [ek] the abundance [perisseuma] of the heart [kardia] the mouth [stoma] speaketh [laleo] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 12:33-34

33 'Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 'You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. NAS

Jesus did not shy away from condemning men in their sins, and to their face. If we retreat from calling a sin a sin, because we are afraid of offending someone in their life style, their philosophy, their religion, and so forth, then we are in effect supporting their beliefs - sin, and we are in effect rejecting Gods truth.

There is but one truth in this universe, and that is Gods truth. There is only one God and that is the Father. There is but one means of access to God, and that is through the Son, Jesus Christ. Of course Jesus Christ is God too, so lets not get confused in all of this. One of the reasons we have the designations of Father and Son is to make it quite clear that there is only one Son, Jesus Christ. This means that all other religions are false - Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. All other faiths attempt to reinvent the plan of God. All other faiths are evil in that they reject the truth, and they reject Gods work, and Gods plan. All other approaches to God are not honorable. They are evil and should not be supported in any fashion.

A tree is either good or bad. The production of the tree follows the quality of the tree. If the tree is bad, its production is bad. Only good production comes from a good tree. You are a tree. Jesus Christ is the tree which the Pharisees condemned. Jesus quickly points out that a good tree does not produce bad fruit, and a bad tree does not produce good. Likewise Satan is bad, therefore he does not produce anything good. What Jesus has been doing - miracles of healing and such - is good, therefore cannot be from the source of Satan.

In the same fashion, people are either good or bad. Their status in their spiritual life determines their production in life. A person advancing in their spiritual life, in fellowship, will produce good works - ie. their application of Biblical principles to their daily life (gold, silver, and precious stones).

A person who lacks Bible doctrine in their soul, who is constantly out of fellowship, functions from the source of their sin nature. We are either ruled by our sin nature or by the Holy Spirit, whom ever we place in charge in our soul. A person ruled by their sin nature produces nothing but bad production (wood, hay, and stubble).

How do we place either the sin nature or the Holy Spirit in charge within our soul? A missionary described it in this way to a chief in 19th century Africa. Within you are two dogs - one bad and one good. They are in constant conflict between the two of them from within your soul. When the chief asked which dog wins the fight. The missionary told him that the dog that wins is the dog you order to 'sic em.'

Your volition is the means of your instructions to the dogs within you. We have studied this in our fellowship studies. Confess your sins to God the Father and you are forgiven and placed immediately in fellowship and there you remain until you commit a sin in which case you are immediately out of fellowship. Confess again and get back in. Sin again and get thrown out. And so the cycle continues throughout your life. You either decide to impose adequate self discipline on yourself and thereby keep yourself in fellowship, or you decide to heck with it and live within the sphere of your sin nature. Either way, the decision and its repercussions always fall back on you.

Good and bad are mutually exclusive. They are never mixed and cannot be mixed

Only good can come out of a fellowship status. Only bad can come out of a sin nature ruled life style.

Jesus called these Pharisees a brood of vipers. They were worse than a clump of bad trees. They were persistent in their rejection of God and Jesus. They tried to say the right things to impress people, but their words are not the measure of the person. Their thoughts are the measure of a person. What you think is what you are.

They were stubborn and hard core defiant toward truth. Stubbornness is a bad thing and extremely dangerous. Stubbornness is rigid and not open minded. It is unteachable and refuses to listen or learn. It is the opposite of humility - the willingness to learn. If a person is stubborn where it comes to God, then they will be stubborn in their life. They will be argumentative. They will twist discussions in whatever way suits them. They are not interested in truth, only in winning the argument to serve their selfish ego and perhaps to impress any who might be watching (approbation lust, control lust, competition (must win) lust). In taking such a position in life they place themselves in a pit or trap, they in effect destroy their opportunities in getting out of the trap, and they destroy themselves. They do it all to themselves. Fool is their title.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
