Matthew 12:35

Lesson # Matt. 12:35
Study Material - Matt. 12:35

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 12:35

35 A good [agathos] man [anthropos] out of [ek] the good [agathos] treasure [thesauros] of the heart [kardia] bringeth forth [ekballo] good things [agathos] : and [kai] an evil [poneros] man [anthropos] out of [ek] the evil [poneros] treasure [thesauros] bringeth forth [ekballo] evil things [poneros] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 12:35

35 'The good man out of his good treasure brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth what is evil. NAS

The Bible often uses body terms to represent parts or activities of the soul. The heart is the seat of thought within the soul. The heart in the physical body is a pump. It pushes the blood throughout the body. Likewise in the soul there is a pumping action. The thoughts of the soul are what are being circulated throughout the soul and eventually they spill out of the soul through outlets such as the mouth.

The key indicator of the souls content is the mouth, but it is not conclusive. When combined with the actions ones commits in life from day to day, then it becomes obvious to any observer, just what is contained within the soul of any given individual. The eyes mean nothing. They are not the gateway to the soul, but generally are used as a snare or trap to the unsuspecting. We are of course studying evil and this is our context. Eyes have other functions in life of course, but we'll confine this study to the above.

Other parts of the boy are often used to describe the soul. The mind is referred to as the storehouse, or treasury, or vault as it were. The emotions are often described using the stomach as it may be satisfied or hungry and so forth.

Anyway, the treasury is a storehouse as well. It is a vault, a reservoir of whatever resource is being described. In our case, that treasury or warehouse is in the soul. The content of the soul is thought, memory, norms and standards, categories of information, understanding of that information, frames of reference for making use of that information and relating information to other information.

If the content of the soul is good, then the applications out of the soul are good. We call this production. If the content of the soul is bad, then its production is bad. Out of a good soul comes no bad. Out of a bad soul comes no good. A soul that contains a mixture of both good and bad as we find in all of humanity - we all have sin natures, and some have learned Bible doctrine, then the production of that soul depends on which (good or bad) is running the show at the moment. If you are angry then obviously bad is your production. If you are in fellowship then good is your production. By definition, fellowship means sinless perfection or the state of being sin free by means of your confession as per the fellowship confession routine. And just a quick note, all confession is directed toward God the Father and no one else. It is a private matter and no one else's business. Only the Father can forgive, through the Son. No priest, no grandma, no one, can forgive, nor do they have the authority to forgive.

At birth, you are very young. That should be obvious. Your treasury is empty. As you grow up, you fill your treasury with what you learn at home, art school, at work, from the street. You also have the power of your own volition to decide what is good and what is bad within the scope of your knowledge. This is only academic categorization from the norms and standards you learn from society. You decide that it is acceptable to steal or not. You learn that it is acceptable to burn witches or not. Society may teach one thing, but you can overrule society with your sense of right and wrong.

Also, during the course of your learning, you will stumble onto Bible teaching. Bible teaching brings the standards of right and wrong which God teaches, before you. You again have the power of comparing principles from the Bible with that which you have learned from your life's collective environment as you have grown up. All these things influence society and individuals.

The bottom line is this. What you pay attention to and learn fills up your soul. The soul is a vacuum and will take in whatever is presented to it.

The next phase in life is separating yourself from that which rules your soul. You have two options. By the way none of us are in complete control over the rule of our own soul. We may be ruled by the sin nature which is in all of us, or we may be ruled by the Holy Spirit which is only in control of your soul if you have first believed in Christ, and second are in fellowship. The Holy Spirit's indwelling does not apply to those who have rejected Christ.

If you study your Bible daily than you will learn Gods Word. You will fill up your treasury as it were with good (gold, silver, and precious stones). If you are an unbeliever or a believer who is not interested in God, then you fill up your soul with bad (wood, hay, and stubble). Ownership of the former is far better than the latter.

The key to your life is your treasury. What a man thinks is what he is. What a man says or does is an indication of the content of his soul. Only the discerning person can identify the con artist (whether self righteous church go'er or career criminal, etc.) from the genuinely good person (a Christian in fellowship).

The key to your life then, is based on what it is you take into your soul - nightly TV, daily news, publications you read, advertisements, philosophies of whatever kind, and so forth. If you include a daily dose of Bible study, then you will have the ultimate standard for comparison against all else, and for understanding life and what everything is all about, and what your objective in life are and should be. If you exclude Bible study from your life, then you have nothing but the fog of worldly propaganda that invades your soul constantly and daily, with no meaning or purpose defined - only deceitful objectives for life in the jungle, and no preparation for this life or the next life which will come for sure.

If you have no Bible doctrine in your soul, then you have no means of producing good. If you have no daily mechanism for learning Bible doctrine, then you have no mechanism for growing up spiritually.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
