You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Wheat and Tares
Matt. 13:36-43

36 Then [tote] Jesus [Iesous] sent [aphiemi] the multitude [ochlos] away [aphiemi] , and went [erchomai] into [eis] the house [oikia] : and [kai] his [autos] disciples [mathetes] came [proserchomai] unto him [autos] , saying [lego] , Declare [phrazo] unto us [hemin] the parable [parabole] of the tares [zizanion] of the field [agros] .
37 He answered [apokrinomai] and [de] said [epo] unto them [autos] , He that soweth [speiro] the good [kalos] seed [sperma] is [esti] the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] ;
38 [de] The field [agros] is [esti] the world [kosmos] ; [de] the good [kalos] seed [sperma] are [houtos] [eisi] the children [huios] of the kingdom [basileia] ; but [de] the tares [zizanion] are [eisi] the children [huios] of the wicked [poneros] one;
39 [de] The enemy [echthros] that sowed [speiro] them [autos] is [esti] the devil [diabolos] ; [de] the harvest [therismos] is [esti] the end [sunteleia] of the world [aion] ; and [de] the reapers [theristes] are [eisi] the angels [aggelos] .
40 As [hosper] therefore [oun] the tares [zizanion] are gathered [sullego] and [kai] burned [katakaio] in the fire [pur] ; so [houto] shall it be [esomai] in [en] the end [sunteleia] of this [toutou] world [aion] .
41 The Son [huios] of man [anthropos] shall send forth [apostello] his [autos] angels [aggelos] , and [kai] they shall gather [sullego] out of [ek] his [autos] kingdom [basileia] all things [pas] that offend [skandalon] , and [kai] them which do [poieo] iniquity [anomia] ;
42 And [kai] shall cast [ballo] them [autos] into [eis] a furnace [kaminos] of fire [pur] : there [ekei] shall be [esomai] wailing [klauthmos] and [kai] gnashing [brugmos] of teeth [odous] .
43 Then [tote] shall the righteous [dikaios] shine forth [eklampo] as [hos] the sun [helios] in [en] the kingdom [basileia] of their [autos] Father [pater] . Who [ho] hath [echo] ears [ous] to hear [akouo] , let him hear [akouo] . KJV-Interlinear

36 Then He left the multitudes, and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, 'Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.' 37 And He answered and said, 'The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, 38 and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one; 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels. 40 'Therefore just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age. 41 'The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 'Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. NASB

No one is the independent master of himself. That is a popular fantasy of mankind that somehow he is in control of his own destiny and in need of no one else in this universe.

There are but two masters. God is the first and last and best master that we could ever have, and we gain access to Him through Jesus Christ. He is the source of all truth. And that truth simply put is that we have been given life by God, and if we wish to live with God forever, then all we need do is believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. That is the first and most important decision any person can make in their entire life.

After that, then believers have many daily decisions to make either for or against Gods wisdom. In that, we define our own access to eternal blessings (as well as blessings in this life) above and beyond the basics every believer will receive. In this we simply study and learn and grow and apply spiritual information throughout our entire lives. And we allow God to take care of all of the historical details in human history.

Satan on the other hand, is the other master, and all that reject God, ignore God, are indifferent to God, are defiant toward God, automatically default to the control of Satan and the pattern of thought that he represents.

Certainly there are many fine folks who would reject this notion, the notion that they as self righteous types would subscribe to Satan. But they have a very unique idea that somehow Satan and his philosophy is not a part of their lives. But again, all that is not from God is from Satan. Satan originated all that is evil. Man just takes up on the basics of Satan's philosophy and expands on them.

We are all tares at some point in our life. At birth all humans are spiritually dead. It requires a renewed birth based on faith in Christ in order to be reborn into the spiritual life. So prior to our initial belief in Christ we were all unbelievers. We are not studying babies and those who die at a young age and never have the opportunity of believing in Christ. They are saved automatically. This could be considered a blessing for many infants that die in third world countries. They at least go to heaven. Those who survive life and grow up as unbelievers have only the fires of hell to look to if they maintain their unbelief.

God alone distinguishes who the tares are and who the good wheat seed is. Man cannot make that determination. Constantine ordered all who did not express a faith in God to be either jailed or executed. Persecutions during the times of the inquisitions saw tremendous anti-Semitic attitudes during which time millions of Jews died. Even in our current day there are countries that attempt to run themselves on some form of religious belief. Islam being one of the more prominent examples. Many atrocities occur when these beliefs exist.

The tares cannot be determined by man. Man cannot distinguish wheat from tare. Man inevitably messes things all up with his arbitrary rules and philosophies. God alone can and will separate the believers from the unbelievers and at the end of the age, the end of human history, there will be a great separation. Angels will be the instruments of that separation. Unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire, an eternal fire, Matt. 25:41, an unquenchable fire, Mk. 9:44, a lake of terrifying fire, Rev. 19:20. There will be no fellowship and humorous carrying on in these fires. There will not be sinful business as usual with drinks and cigars for all. There will be no fellowship of any kind with anyone. There will be only aloneness and a terrifying experience and gnashing of teeth. An experience that will last forever. An experience from which there will be no rescue.

Mankind has but two choices in life. To either believe and receive the one true God, or to ignore Him. Arbitrarily seeking out another god or rejecting the idea of a god in ones life will not make it a reality. Pursuing a lie by one person or by millions of people will not cause the lie to come into existence. Man cannot will into existence that which he believes, simply because he believes.

God can will anything into existence if it serves His purpose. In eternity past God set out a plan for all of history. He was opposed by one individual, Satan. Thereafter, after Satan's rebellion, God allowed His plan to unfold to demonstrate but one thing. That all that Satan did or caused would fail and that many would suffer as a result. That all philosophy which excluded God would end up in atrocities and great suffering for any who followed them.

In life there is truth, and that is what comes from the proper study of the Word of God. Not from some distorted study of the Bible. And then there is the lie. The lie is anything that excludes God and Gods Word.

In life there are but two destinies. There is life in heaven for those who accept Gods plan - faith in Christ for salvation - something that takes probably a second or two to believe in ones own mind. There is the alternative which are the fires of hell, and that is reserved for those who refuse to believe in Christ. A tremendous price to pay for such a little and stubborn decision.

These are the facts, the hard facts and there is no third option. All the cute and witty beliefs in history will not change these two destinies.

God allows history to move forward to its conclusion without early intervention. The tares may grow up and find themselves redeemed into wheat when they discover the truth and believe in Christ. Christ sows nothing but good. Satan and mans stubborn attitude sows all other philosophies of misinformation and deceit.

Everyday we are challenged to pursue our spiritual life. Few will have the desire to do that. Many will have excuses or just be disinterested in pursuing their spiritual life. So be it. But though not mentioned here, because this is a salvation passage, there is even a difference between those who believe and pursue spiritual growth and those who believe and fall away from their Bible study. The first three chapters of Revelation is a very good study of those attitudes and differences.

Those who ignore their spiritual life will have little in heaven, though they will indeed be in heaven. But those who advance in their spiritual lives to maturity, to those there will be far greater blessings in heaven - blessings beyond imagination. The magnitude of difference between mature believers and immature believers is just as great as the magnitude of difference between believers in heaven and unbelievers in the lake of fire. That difference is huge. Everyone is forewarned and there will be none with an excuse when the end of the age arrives.

And by the way, the conclusion of history, just as your life will have its conclusion, is a certainty. You cannot redefine history. You cannot escape it, or ignore it, or wish it away.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
