Matthew 24:11-12

Lesson # Matt. 24:11-12
Study Material - Matt. 24:11-12

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 24:11-12

11 And [kai] many [polus] false prophets [pseudoprophetes] shall rise [egeiro] , and [kai] shall deceive [planao] many [polus] .
12 And [kai] because [dia] iniquity [anomia] shall abound [plethuno] , the love [agape] of many [polus] shall wax cold [psucho] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 24:11-12

11 'And many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many. 12 'And because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. NAS

False christs and false teachers will abound. These are folks who seek to take advantage of others in their hardships. The result? People will become disillusioned, resentful, frustrated. They will place their trust and hope (and their money) in someone who has represented himself as a representative of God, or of some solution, and he will be nothing more than a con-man. The victims will lose their money and trust, and they will be left high and dry. Many probably will try to pay someone to help them escape (with the help of smugglers) from their persecutions, and they will be abandoned to the authorities and to worse situations.

When people lack Bible doctrine, and when tough times fall all around them, then they look to whomever or whatever seems to be the best 'quick fix' to their problems. They are easy prey.

Lawlessness (crime, dishonesty and so forth) will abound, but not in the sense that we generally perceive it. We hear the news in our current day of how crime statistics are up or down, and generally it is by a few percentage points. Crime is up this year over last year by 10%, or something like that.

But in the Tribulation, crime will become more graphic, more public, flaunted because there is no restraint in society to stop it. The statistics will rocket way of the charts. Paul describes it, 'But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these.'
2 Tim 3:1-5.

All honor, all integrity, all authority will take a back seat to, 'Every man for himself. Regardless of the means, or method, or who gets hurt.'

The result? People will grow cold in their hearts. They will see that crime seems to pay, and that there doesn't seem to be any reason to be honorable and noble. Certainly no reason to be Christian! 'After all they are feeding them to the lions. What profit is there in that?'

The discouragement and frustration will take its toll and many will fall away from God and doctrine. It is much easier to follow the path of sin than to follow the path of Gods Word. Or that will become the general attitude.

Wrong decision of course.

Now remember that we are describing the Tribulation and that period of time will be filled with tremendous pressures for everyone worldwide. Many will fail spiritually. But, there will be millions who will succeed spiritually despite the overwhelming odds against them.

What does that say for us in our current day of relative prosperity. At least we do not have bad guys knocking at our door and the fear of being hauled off to the dungeons, never to be seen again. For most folks the biggest problem is what to watch on TV tonight, or what to do this weekend!

We have no excuse for not studying our Bibles daily for at least a few minutes or even a half hour. Is that so much to ask for the tremendous blessings that God offers?

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
