Matthew 24:16-20

Lesson # Matt. 24:16-20
Study Material - Matt. 24:16-20

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 24:16-20

16 Then [tote] let them which be in [en] Judaea [Ioudaia] flee [pheugo] into [epi] the mountains [oros] :
17 Let him which is on [epi] the housetop [doma] not [me] come down [katabaino] to take [airo] any thing [tis] out of [ek] his [autos] house [oikia] :
18 [kai] Neither [me] let him which is in [en] the field [agros] return [epistrepho] back [opiso] to take [airo] his [autos] clothes [himation] .
19 And [de] woe [ouai] unto them that are [echo] with [en] child [gaster] , and [kai] to them that give suck [thelazo] in [en] those [ekeinos] days [hemera] !
20 But [de] pray ye [proseuchomai] that [hina me] your [humon] flight [phuge] be [ginomai] not [hina me] in the winter [cheimon] , neither [mede] on [en] the sabbath day [sabbaton] : KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 24:16-20

16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; 17 let him who is on the housetop not go down to get the things out that are in his house; 18 and let him who is in the field not turn back to get his cloak. 19 'But woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse babes in those days! 20 'But pray that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath; NAS

As we saw in Zechariah yesterday, over two-thirds of the Jews in Israel will die in the slaughter to come. This holocaust of the Tribulation will be greater and will occur quicker than anything in history.

Urgency is the intended message in this passage. If you are in Judea, in the nearest proximity to the Temple, and therefore in the greatest of danger, then when you see the anti-christ enter the Temple and demand that the world worship him as god, then you need to leave immediately, and to the mountains. Just get in your car or whatever it is you use for transportation, and get to the mountains, and go there now.

If you are home, then do not take time to pack some things. Don't over think what it is you will need. Lets see now, flashlight, batteries, money, warm clothes, food, matches, etc., etc., etc. There is no time for that. If you had paid attention to the signs that were unfolding during the past three and one-half years, then you would already have been prepared and you would have already left Dodge.

If you are at work (in the fields) and hear the news, then do not go home first, but get out of town and to the mountains. If you are in any other part of the world, then get away from society, if you haven't already done so. Last chance!

Many will not take heed to the signs. Many will not even recognize them because they are stubborn and anti-Gods Word. People read the Bible and/or hear various Bible studies, and you can see all those letters and numbers and spoken words just streaming into their eyes and ears and right through their indifferent heads, out their ears and splashing down onto the ground. A huge waste.

People somehow get the idea that they need to take care of themselves, and without Gods help. But in Revelation God will take care of millions who have fled to the mountains with just the shirt on their backs. And, God will care for them for 1260 days, or three and one-half years, and in total safety. The wilderness will swallow them up so to speak. All adversaries simply will not be able to find them. Probably because too many other things are happening during those final months.

The Tribulation is divided into two parts. The first half is 42 months or three and one-half years. And the second half is also 42 months, or three and one-half years. During the first half of the Tribulation, there will be an attempt to force a utopia on planet earth. Many will die in this effort. With this failed utopia effort, then there will enter the 'Great Tribulation' which is the second half of the Tribulational period. It is during this last half that the worlds most severe disasters and atrocities will occur.

But too God gives us a hint as to when these events will not occur. In the winter when weather and travel conditions are not good, and Jesus mentions the Sabbath as the second time frame when the Temple desecration will not occur (hopefully). Why not? Because first, He commands that those present should pray that these dates are avoided, and second, probably knowing that most will not pray, then He, Jesus Christ, will pray for them to the Father, to whom all prayer is directed. The disciples were told to ask for the Holy Spirit, but they didn't. God gave it anyway at Pentecost. Here God commands that prayer should be offered so that the desecration of the temple will not occur in the winter so that travel conditions will be good for those who need to run, and not on the Sabbath, because in the synagogues is where the Jews will be, and those will probably be the first targets. If you were the anti-christ and were thinking of just where you would find the most Jews, then you would think of the synagogues on any given Saturday.

When trouble hits hard, many people run to their church for some comfort. On this future occasion, that will be the wrong place to be.

This leaves three other seasons, but if God wants you to pray that the winter is avoided, then most likely the fall will be avoided as well. Spring rains and flooding rivers could be a hindrance or they could be helpful in getting away. The summer time is the easiest time to travel, but then an enemy can travel easily as well, unless they are all busy hitting the synagogues while you are sneaking out the back door of the city.

This leads to another implication. Since this event takes place in the middle of the Tribulation, then that means that three and one-half years earlier the Rapture will have taken place. Does that mean that a summer temple desecration places the Rapture in the winter? Hummm! Of course we do not charge extra for these thoughts. And it makes no difference to us anyway. Our mission is to learn doctrine and to grow up spiritually. And, not to be like those who are negative toward God, and simply ignore Him until it is too late in life. If history doesn't swallow you up, then your life surely will.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
