Matthew 24:29

Lesson # Matt. 24:29
Study Material - Matt. 24:29

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 24:29

29 Immediately [de] [eutheos] after [meta] the tribulation [thlipsis] of those [ekeinos] days [hemera] shall the sun [helios] be darkened [skotizo] , and [kai] the moon [selene] shall [didomi] not [ou] give [didomi] her [autos] light [pheggos] , and [kai] the stars [aster] shall fall [pipto] from [apo] heaven [ouranos] , and [kai] the powers [dunamis] of the heavens [ouranos] shall be shaken [saleuo] : KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 24:29

29 'But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken, NAS

Jesus now lists a sequence of basic events which will immediately precede His return.

There will be a supernatural darkness which will cover the earth. A person won't even be able to see the nose on their face because of the totality of the darkness. Several years ago we went on a vacation and visited some very large caves. Inside, the guides turned the lights out and it was so dark you couldn't see your own hand if you held it right next to your eyes. You certainly couldn't see those who were standing close by, though you could hear them.

There will be only two occasions in history when this supernatural darkness occurs. The first has already taken place at the Crucifixion. The second will take place immediately before the Second Advent. The first concealed Christ's humiliation in judgment. The second will frame His return in glory.

Immediately after the tribulation means just that. We have already studied in Revelation, in that, Christ will, at some point in time, stand up and say, 'Enough!' Satan has had his demands met at every turn throughout history. 'What if this? What if that?' And God has given him every opportunity to prove his case. In the book of Job, Satan, suggested several alternatives in dealing with Job. Throughout history this is Satan's pattern of life. Complain about everything! Connive and plot and deceive just to get everything he wants, with total disregard for anyone and everyone else.

The laws of nature will be suspended. All light coming from the sun and stars, all light reflecting from the moon and whatever else reflects light, all light from camp fires, all light from every source, will cease. Since this event cannot be counterfeited, then when it occurs, it is the real deal.

The world will be embroiled in the Armageddon battle. There will be total chaos everywhere. Isaiah has quite a bit to say about this final day of the tribulation.

Isa. 13:6-12, 'Wail, for the day of the Lord is near! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. Therefore all hands will fall limp, and every man's heart will melt. And they will be terrified, pains and anguish will take hold of them; they will writhe like a woman in labor, they will look at one another in astonishment, their faces aflame. Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, cruel, with fury and burning anger, to make the land a desolation; and He will exterminate its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not flash forth their light; the sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will not shed its light. Thus I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud, and abase the haughtiness of the ruthless. I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold, and mankind than the gold of Ophir.'

Stars will not fall out of the sky, but their light will cease as though they had fallen and were no more. Terror will seize the hearts, minds, and wits of people worldwide. Not understanding what is happening, and without any form of control over this event of total darkness, then all people will be halted in their place. They won't be able to move forward or backward. The world, as it were, will come to a screeching standstill.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
