Matthew 24:35

Lesson # Matt. 24:35
Study Material - Matt. 24:35

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 24:35

35 Heaven [ouranos] and [kai] earth [ge] shall pass away [parerchomai] , but [de] my [mou] words [logos] shall [parerchomai] not [ou me] pass away [parerchomai] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 24:35

35 'Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away. NAS

The heavens and earth, the entire universe is only here on a temporary basis. Our physical bodies are only here on a temporary basis. No human being, not anyone in humanity can or will ever have the power to extend life indefinitely.

Today we brag about living into the 80's, but there was a time when humans lived for hundreds of years. In Adam's day up and until Noah's time, people lived into the 900's of years. Then the life spans began to drop into the 400's, then to the 200's, and they kept dropping until the dark ages when the average life span was in the 20's of years. Now we are talking averages here not maximum's. Certainly people lived to older ages, and there were those (babies for example) who barely had a life.

Today we are back up into the 70's and 80's. The Israelites lived into the early 100's and they were slaves for 400 years. Only four generations were in slavery.

We have seen floods, earthquakes, many spectacular images from deep outer space which all lead to the conclusion that this universe is ever changing, and mankind has absolutely no control over any of it. And when the heavens finally do pass away, it will not be through the natural course of events, but by the designing hand of God. Mortal man will not survive that change. Only an immortal man will survive it. Man cannot make himself immortal, Only God can do that for man.

2 Peter 3:10-13
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. NAS

Rev. 21:1
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. NAS

One things remains, however, and that is the Word of God. It was in the mind of God in eternity past and will always exist. The scriptures are all God breathed (God inspired). Though mans hand was the tool for writing down Gods words, man did not originate any of them. Adam received clothes of animal skins after leaving the Garden. Those skins came from sacrificed animals. God taught the principles of the sacrifice of the savior to Adam who believed, and to Cain, who did not. Eventually Moses committed the first five books into writing, and thereafter many other prophets and writers wrote down the word of God.

Up until our very day, we still have those words, and in every language on planet earth. No other religion can match this.

From the oldest of false religions, Hinduism, which believes that one must obtain an absolute state of spiritual oneness, by advancing through many reincarnated lives, until one is finally absorbed into the highest state, which means that people eventually become god, or all are absorbed into the concept of a higher state of deity.

Then there is the next major false religion, Buddhism, in which people strive to achieve a oneness with the universe, or a state of higher discipline of absolute peace of mind.

In the first religion, Hinduism, man cannot elevate himself to a level with God. Man is no greater than his weaknesses. And in those, mans physical weaknesses, man cannot solve himself. Man cannot change his physical state. In the second religion, Buddhism, man cannot solve the problems of the sin nature. Man will always have mental barriers and beyond them man cannot move except through the mechanisms which God has given us - The Gospel, a human spirit, fellowship, and so forth.

In the third major false religion, Judaism, the person of God is recognized, but the plan of God is rejected. Judaism is an example of a belief which began in the correct state (the Bible), but went astray, drifting out of Gods Word (grace) and into mans regulatory invention (works).

The fourth and final major false religion, Islam, also recognizes God, but has substituted prophet (Christ) for prophet (Mohammed), and makes God a tool of mankind's whims, justifying all manner of abuse and life style (violence) as long as it is in the name of some supreme being.

The other religions of the world are minor and not worth mentioning here. Certainly none, including the four above, have existed as long as mankind has. And any true faith must exist from the beginning of time, and even before.

All religions appeal to some form of human lust. By the way, Christianity is not a religion, it is a faith relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. All other religions reject God and look to man, through mans efforts (works), to achieve some formal and higher status acceptable to God, or nature, or whatever the highest state of life is presumed to be. Mankind is incapable to accomplishing anything defined by any religion. To pursue the false is to be foolish to the maximum. To try to redefine the truth (mans inventions of philosophy or beliefs) is the quintessence of arrogance, presuming that mankind can discover something that God has somehow overlooked.

Look around. We see cemeteries, old cars, city dumps filled to overflowing. There is an endless list of things we can observe in which we can conclude that we are not permanent in our present state. And that we cannot overcome unless we have some form of help from a source which is outside of our human realm.

There is only one source which is eternal, and has withstood the tests of time. That source is the Word of God. It will remain forever. It will never be changed.

Ps 12:6

6 The words of the LORD are pure words;
As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times. NAS

prayer wall
Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
