Revelation 17:14

14 These [houtos] shall make war [polemeo] with [meta] the Lamb, [arnion] and [kai] the Lamb [arnion] shall overcome [nikao] them: [autos] for [hoti] he is [esti] Lord [kurios] of lords, [kurios] and [kai] King [basileus] of kings: [basileus] and [kai] they that are with [meta] him [autos] are called, [kletos] and [kai] chosen, [eklektos] and [kai] faithful. [pistos] KJV-Interlinear

14 "These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful." NASB

The primary function of any leader, is to carry out the necessary duties that serve the citizens of the nation. Unfortunately, these leaders will take to the extreme, their selfishness's and lusts for power and wealth, and gladly sacrifice the needs and rights of their respective citizens.

Remember what has happened thus far in the Tribulation. And remember that these events are still future events. Neither you nor I will ever see them first hand. We will be in heaven along with all believers from our dispensation when the Rapture occurs.

However, from our studies, we know that by the end of the Tribulation, the world will have been turned literally upside down.

With the collapse of economies, with unrelenting crime, with the pounding of the planet by storm after storm, with the oceans absent of all life, with over half of the population of the world laying dead or dying in the streets, homes, offices, and everywhere, the planet will be literally operating on starvation rations, if even that.

All public services for power and communication and so forth will not be functional. Nearly all roads and bridges, all cities, all buildings will be in a state of collapse and disrepair. All commerce will have long sense halted. People will be broke, hoarders of the least of things, and looking out for themselves at the expense of everyone else.

If you have seen a couple of movies, the recent movie '2012' and one other movie, the last of the Rambo series. I think it is the fourth in the series and is called 'The Fight Continues.' Then these are a couple of good movies to get a visual idea as to how destructive and atrocious things will be worldwide in the Tribulation. Even if you are not a fan of these movies, they do provide a good example of how the world will come apart, and how evil, humanity will be in crime and atrocities. Women and children and old folks will carry the bulk of the suffering that will occur in the Tribulation.

Now in the movies there is a hero, but in the Tribulation, there is no one to come to the rescue. That is, not until Christ returns at the Second Advent. And then at that time, all evil will be wiped out literally in seconds. All the bad guys will drop right where they stand.

Jesus Christ is Lord of lords, and King of kings, Deut. 10:17, 1 Tim. 6:15, Rev. 19:16. He is the sovereign ruler and power in all of the universe and beyond.

And yet with all of the massive problems, death and destruction, worldwide, the leadership of the world will continue to follow the anti-christ in their attempted genocide of Christians and Jews. And not only will they lead the genocide, but the massive numbers of citizens of the world will follow them with enthusiasm in that effort.

If you are following along in the Psalm studies, then maybe you can begin to see the connection between indifference toward truth and the evils that occur in the world.

The called, the chosen, the faithful, is a reference to believers in Jesus Christ, Matt 22:14, Eph 1:4, John 6:44, Rom 8:9, Rev. 19:14.

The lamb as we have already studied, is the reference to the Second person of the Trinity, the Son of God, the one who gave Himself as a sacrifice for us all, our Lord Jesus Christ, who is both God and man together in the same person, the unique person of the universe, Deut. 6:4.

And these then, all believers throughout history, have been the target of Satan, all along. He has tried to redirect peoples beliefs through religion and various philosophies throughout history and that has and will fail. In the Tribulation he will try to place greater emphasis on religion, then obliterate it in one swift motion, replacing all religion with one last and final religion, that of the worship of the antichrist, which will be the worst and deadliest of them all.
