You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Romans 2:25

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

25 For [gar] circumcision [peritome] verily [men] profiteth [opheleo], if [ean] thou keep [prasso] the law [nomos]: but [de] if [ean] thou be [o] a breaker [parabates] of the law [nomos], thy [sou] circumcision [peritome] is made [ginomai] uncircumcision [akrobustia].   KJV-Interlinear

25 For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.    ESV

A ritual has value only if you know and understand its meaning. Otherwise, if you follow some ritual, but have no clue as to what it is that you are doing, then you gain no value by observing the ritual.

Circumcision was a recognition of the entrance into the Abrahamic covenant, which was with God. It was not the entrance itself, but representative of the entrance and of the many privileges that the Hebrews enjoyed as a result of their being chosen by God.

Their being chosen was due to their faith, not due to some activity or event or exercise.

The value was in the soul, not in the body, and certainly not from some external activity or status.

Obedience to the Law, does not refer to the adherence of many rules of observance, but of the meaning behind the rules, namely recognizing that one cannot possibly keep the rules in the first place, but one needs to recognize the need for faith in a savior, and credit to whom it is due, not from ones own works.

Going one step further, if you promote or try to promote Christianity but you yourself lack understanding, then your promotion goes nowhere. Simply quoting scripture, or stating cliché phrases, when these things lack instruction or comprehension, only muddy the waters for others.

You are far better off doing nothing, instead of bringing confusion to others.

Promoting something or using something in the wrong way, is of no value. Often times you do more damage than good.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
