Dan. 2:26-30

Lesson # Dan. 2:26-30
Study Material - Dan. 2:26-30

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 2:26-30

26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, 'Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen and its interpretation?' 27 Daniel answered before the king and said, 'As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither wise men, conjurers, magicians, nor diviners are able to declare it to the king. 28 'However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the latter days. This was your dream and the visions in your mind while on your bed. 29 'As for you, O king, while on your bed your thoughts turned to what would take place in the future; and He who reveals mysteries has made known to you what will take place. 30 'But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me for any wisdom residing in me more than in any other living man, but for the purpose of making the interpretation known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.

Daniel-God is my Judge. Belteshazzar stands for the keeper of the hidden treasures of Bel, a god of Babylon. But here Daniel is referred to as the judge with hidden treasures. Nebuchadnezzar perceives himself as the judge of all in his nation, and perhaps beyond his national borders to where ever his power can reach, but even he has his limits.

Nebuchadnezzar doesn't know the hidden meaning of the dreams, yet he is the one who had the dreams. Again there are limits to his power and knowledge, and ability to deal with them. In frustration he abuses his power and thus reflects mans inability to deal with great power in a fair and just manner. Man is unable to handle power. There is a limit to where any person can excel under their own initiative. And once they have gone beyond that point, their sin nature begins to twist their sense of right and wrong.

So here we have a contrast again. The Bible is filled with contrasts which teach us our limits and help us to discern and decide the proper course we need to take in life from moment to moment, from day to day. So that panaceas do not get into our head and fool us into thinking that we can come up with some kind of scheme or plan for getting ahead in life without Bible doctrine. Too often we get our eyes on the details of life, and get wrapped up in life's daily activities, and forget about what life is all about in the first place.

Here Nebuchadnezzar is wrapped up in his dream. Hasn't a clue as to why he was placed in power as the king, nor does he recognize God or anything of a spiritual sense. Even the false gods of Babylon do not interest him, as we will see later on in Daniel.

The contrast. Nebuchadnezzar asks Daniel with some skepticism, 'Can you tell me my dream and its meaning?' Daniel is young. He is a captive from Judah. He has been in training for some time now and though he has some employment responsibilities here in his new home, he doesn't have much respect from his fellow counselors, men who have been with Nebuchadnezzar for many more years than he. All these wise men could not come up with the answer. So how could this young man, who isn't even dry behind the ears, who doesn't know all the history of the 'great Babylon', of Nebuchadnezzar, of the policies of the state, how could he possibly come up with the answers currently required?

So now Daniel presents the gospel to Nebuchadnezzar. 'Oh king. There are two opinions in life. That of your other counselors, magicians, conjurers and such, and that of the true God in heaven. The opinion of this earth is not able to give the true picture of life in the current let alone the future. And it often twists the past in order to present false conclusions.

However there is a God, who reveals mysteries. A God in heaven who appoints men to their power and removes them. And in this case, God has made known to Nebuchadnezzar the future of the human race, its empires, their rise and their fall, and the establishment of the final permanent empire of God.

The mystery dream was not given to Daniel, but to Nebuchadnezzar. Believers who are advancing to maturity, believers who are living their spiritual life in accordance with Gods will already have, through the scriptures, the future of the human race, the details of the angelic conflict, the doctrine and principles of life. But unbelievers have not yet accepted the scriptures and being of any significance in life. Therefore, God gives them proof after proof to show why God is the only one and true God, and that all other gods and human philosophies are false and lead only to ones doom.

So, do not listen to the false sayings of these wise men, but listen to the communications from God which came to Nebuchadnezzar while on his bed. And though an unbeliever now, Nebuchadnezzar did not have the resources to interpret or even remember the dreams. Bible doctrine must be taught. None of us have the ability to learn Gods word from scratch. We cannot learn it on our own. No unbeliever has the resources or even the means of understanding Gods word. They have to be taught. They have to receive the communication from one who knows and understands the information. Daniel received the clarification and the details from God. Daniel will communicate this information to Nebuchadnezzar.

All of us had to be taught about God from someone. Whether it was our parents, a preacher, a professor, or a friend, makes no difference who. We still had to have a starting point and from that point we still have to be taught and trained throughout our spiritual growth and for the rest of our lives. There is always someone in life who has the information regardless of our status in life. Daniel was a captive. But God brought him before king Nebuchadnezzar in this matter when there was no one else who was able to help the king.

Daniel was brought to Nebuchadnezzar in order to make the dream clear and to give its meaning so that it could be understood. There are no mysteries in life or in the Bible for that matter, for believers who are consistent in their advancement to spiritual maturity. Mysteries and confusion only occur in the minds of those who do not have Bible doctrine in their souls. And people do not have Bible doctrine in their souls, only when they do not want to learn it. Otherwise it is readily available to every person n the planet and throughout history. No exceptions. And tomorrow, we will finally get into the dream.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
