Dan. 2:46-49

Lesson # Dan. 2:46-49
Study Material - Dan. 2:46-49

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 2:46-49

46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. 47 The king answered Daniel and said, 'Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery.' 48 Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. 49 And Daniel made request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego over the administration of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the king's court.

Even in the midst of captivity, there can be blessing and honor and advancement. So it is with each one of us. We are in the middle of captivity here in this world, a world that is not our home, but a temporary home, as our real home is in heaven. The world is a place of sin and death, or evil and its production, wickedness, and we are caught up in the middle of it all. With attacks from all sides - the wise men, sinners who reject God and His wisdom, people who practice their games in life. Plotting their own course, so they think, disregarding believers who are advancing, actually attempting to subordinate advancing believers and destroy them for their own selfish ends.

We are surrounded by leaders who are negative toward Bible doctrine. Political leaders, business leaders, labor leaders, social leaders, the list is seemingly endless, as the numbers of peoples in this world is endless so to speak. They have positions of power, of authority. They abuse their positions, playing favorites to some at the expense of others.

Then we have Bible doctrine in the middle of it all, our safe harbor in the storm, when we comply with its guidelines and follow its path.

So Daniel was blessed by God first, and from God through Nebuchadnezzar. The king listened and learned most of what he heard, but had some applications wrong, but we can learn even from that. Nebuchadnezzar fell down to Daniel, not in worship, but in thankfulness and in honor. Sooner or later those who are negative toward God will fall down to God and to believers whom God honors.

Nebuchadnezzar offered incense and an offering to Daniel. We direct our honor and worship to God, making offering to God, never to man. The king made an offering to the messenger, but should have directed his honor to the source of the message.

Nebuchadnezzar recognized God as the God of gods. Still considering the possibility of other gods, but recognizing that God is the all powerful God and the Lord of kings. And this last part is important. God controls history. God, Jesus Christ, executes history. He appoints kings, and empires. He demotes them as well. God reveals history, and its mysteries. And if a mystery is not revealed by God, then it can never be known.

God promotes and the environment is of no consequence. You can be incarcerated in jail, in a bad marriage, a bad job, a bad part of the world. Your circumstances are not relevant to God. God can do all that he wills. And if He wills to do something, then nothing can prevent it. Our daily life does not depend on our circumstances, but on our attitude toward Bible doctrine.

Daniel could have rationalized that the king would get angry when he heard that his kingdom was going to end and be replaced by another. Daniel could have whitewashed this part, but he did not. He stated the truth and Nebuchadnezzar promoted him to an extremely high office..

So too, it is with each believer who is positive, in fellowship, and advancing to maturity. You can never lose ground, but only advance as God promotes you through life. When you face obstacles, you do not blink, but stand fast and watch as God tests your faith and then advances you a little bit more, when you hold your ground in poise and confidence.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
