Dan. 3:8

Lesson # Dan. 3:8
Study Material - Dan. 3:8

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 3:8

8 For this reason at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and brought charges against the Jews.

'For this reason'. What reason? To obtain revenge on certain others. 'For', referring to the image, the worship of the image, the penalty for not worshipping (Ah, ha! Now we get to the truth and to the real reason for the image). Whose idea was the image? The King? No. Certain Chaldeans.

'At that time', what time? At the completion of the image and the calling of all those in authority, especially those in high office, to come and be present and bow down to the image.

Later an elaborate scheme will be carried out against Daniel. And we will study the lions den in due course, but for now there are those who were put down, put in their place, insulted if you will, as a result of the successful reading by Daniel of Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Not only did Daniel interpret the dream, but Daniel told the King the dream without first being told the dreams content. No one else could do this. Nebuchadnezzar was ready to execute everyone because of their uselessness in the matter.

Daniel's success resulted in his promotion as well as the promotion of his friends - Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. It also resulted in saving of the lives of all the other consultants, including ' these certain Chaldeans'. You would think that they would be grateful for their lives!!

But negative people are never grateful, at least not for long. They do not see what they have retained - their lives, but they see what they have lost - the Kings favor, the prestige of their offices, their 'dignity'. They were insulted, and embarrassed thoroughly. So rather than gratefulness, they sought revenge. They sought to restore their former level of confidence from the King which they perceived they had (of course they forgot that the King was going to kill them all), and they would gain this prestige back by not attacking Daniel directly, but by setting up his friends to discredit them as well as remove them permanently by means of death.

So, now what happened? An elaborate scheme was hatched. Talk with the King, work on his ego, work on his authority. 'Wasn't the head of gold a reference to you, O great King?' 'Didn't Daniel's God refer to you in the dream?' Hummm! 'You know, there is talk among the people. They are 'seemingly' divided between our 'glorious gods' and that God of Daniel's'. 'Maybe you, O great King, should do something to reinforce your authority over the people to 'reassure' them that 'you', O great King are here to stay. That it was even Daniel's God that referred to You, O great King, as being the greatest of many empires to follow. What was it in your dream? A statue? Great idea you have O great King. Build it all of gold and not just the head.'

And so the plot was hatched. Not to reassure the 'people', but to get even with those that, these 'certain' Chaldeans, hated. Politicians often use very smooth words and the 'good' of the people in their arguments in order to get what they deceptively really want - power. -- 'I don't want to see people without jobs, without homes, without medical care, without food. So we should not reduce taxes, but retain them, even increase them in order that government can help these poor and down trodden.' Thus governments are full of these deceptive types, and have been throughout the centuries. Our time is no different.

These 'certain' Chaldeans used the King, they used the 'good' of the people, they used the Kings ego and probably his paranoia for loss of authority, in order to get their revenge.

Life is constantly on the move. Not everything in our life is controlled by us, nor is it near by. Daniel and his three friends were snapped up as a result of an invasion. Their lives were changed by someone else's dream. Their lives will be further affected by the hate of others, others that they probably do not know.

Do not become complacent in your life if nothing exciting seems to be happening to you. This is a complicated world, from our point of view, but from Gods view, many things will be brought together to enhance your life, to test your life, to punish you if necessary. You may never see them coming, and that really does not matter anyway. Your responsibility is to focus on Bible doctrine and your daily Bible study, to grow up in grace, to remain in fellowship, to advance to spiritual maturity. You are not to focus on the events that may occur in your life. They are of no consequence. Events come and go. But Bible doctrine is forever.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
