Dan. 3:28-30

Lesson # Dan. 3:28-30
Study Material - Dan. 3:28-30

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 3:28-30

28 Nebuchadnezzar responded and said, 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king's command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god except their own God. 29 'Therefore, I make a decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to a rubbish heap, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.' 30 Then the king caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego to prosper in the province of Babylon.

Faith in God produces faithfulness from God. If we be faithful to Him, He will be faithful to us. If we reject Him, He will reject us. God always allows us to make the choice. He is faithful regardless of how our life runs from day to day, but sooner or later He calls an end to our unfaithfulness if that is our choice in life, and injects judgment in the appropriate manner.

If, however, we are faithful to Him, then there is nothing in life that can harm us. Even in death we come out winners. We all should know that we will all die one day, with the exception of the final generation in this Church Age who will be caught up in the Rapture. But if we are not a part of that generation then we will certainly die. All of the wishing, hoping, crying, and praying in the world won't change that. So it is best to get with the program of daily Bible study and get our lives in order and prepare to be blessed beyond our wildest dreams.

A negative person is unstable to say the least. Nebuchadnezzar began in a rage at the disobedience of these three men. His command was that they should die. But in this world, no one has any authority over anything, unless God grants it. People who are successful, often get caught up in that success and come under the delusion that they caused their own success. They think that their own brilliance is the basis for their prosperity, and that is a lie.

God is the source of everything we have in life. So thankfulness should be the order of the day, not greed.

Negative people are unstable, as I said. Nebuchadnezzar began in a rage to execute all who did not bow down to the idol, and after the miracle of God, he changes his tune and now condemns any who would say anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. Note that he does not call their God his own God. But he is close to believing in Christ, but not quite. We will see that at the end of the next chapter when we get there.

Anyway, negative people are unstable. They flip flop back and forth in their opinions, in their beliefs. All saw the miracle and saw that faithfulness to God causes deliverance from ones enemies. Whether you are or are not the greatest person in the world is not the issue, but your spiritual status is the issue. We are all human and we all have a sin nature, therefore we are all subject to failure whether accidental or intentional. We all make choices and sometimes they are due to our feelings of the moment. A spiritually mature person can lose his cool from time to time, but recovery is generally followed up in short order with fellowship regained. An immature believer or a negative person doesn't have that stability and will remain out of fellowship perhaps indefinitely and that is the big difference in the lives of the two. Residence inside Gods will produces blessing whereas the absence of that residence produces cursing.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego may have had an instance of fear in that final second, but God was faithful to their spiritual status of maturity, and even if they slipped (which they probably did not slip), but if they did, they would have recovered quickly while in the presence of Christ inside the furnace.

Faithfulness would have delivered the nation of Israel from the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, but the nation as a whole was unfaithful and therefore they lost in the invasion. But those few who were faithful to God, were delivered even in the midst of the invasion, and though taken captive, they prospered despite being captives.

The message is clear and should have been recognized by all those highly intelligent counselors of the King. That God was the only God and all those idols of Babylon and its surrounding nations were powerless nothings. How many converted? Probably some did. Certainly the Kings decree made things easier for the Jews in captivity. No one would dare cross the King and give them problems. So this miracle had a positive affect on all those in captivity, not just on Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. So for others in the empire, there were events taking place that would influence their lives even if they did not know anything about the miracle until later on as news spread concerning it.

Your life and mine are not always our to determine, though we would like to think that we have some control over our destiny, we really do not have much control except for our ultimate destiny - heaven or hell. The single decision we make with respect to Christ will determine our eternal living destination. The daily decisions we make with respect to Bible study will determine our living conditions in life and eventually in eternity. What we do not have control over are all the people we will meet in our lives and how they will treat us. We will not have control over all the bureaucracies we will encounter in life and how we will be dealt with. We will not have control over all the events of nature, weather and such, and how our lives will be affected.

But we can control our thinking and our spiritual status. Through spiritual growth all other controls in life are rendered powerless. And to the dismay of all those who would like to see you suffer, you will in fact prosper. And what God does for you is something that no one can change.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
