Dan. 6:19-23

Lesson # Dan. 6:19-23
Study Material - Dan. 6:19-23

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 6:19-23

19 Then the king arose with the dawn, at the break of day, and went in haste to the lions' den. 20 And when he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, 'Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you constantly serve, been able to deliver you from the lions?' 21 Then Daniel spoke to the king, 'O king, live forever! 22 'My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.' 23 Then the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

The king spent a sleepless night and arose very early in the morning. The execution was to last through the night, and with the morning light if anything was left alive in the lions den, then it could be released. The kings voice was anxious, troubled and worried for Daniel's sake. Would the God of Daniel save him or not? Daniel's voice was calm and he of course was fine, considering he spent the night in a den with the lions.

Daniel was in a position of extreme danger, the king was not. Daniel slept on the hard ground, if he slept at all. The king could not sleep even in his comfortable bed. The king was in perfect safety. Daniel was under threat from the lions. Likewise all of Daniel's accusers probably went to sleep that night with a smile on their face thinking that they had succeeded in getting rid of Daniel.

So it is with all peoples who live apart from Gods word in their soul. They might be very pleasant personalities, or they might be very disgusting sorts. Their outward appearance or personality makes no difference. The content of the soul defines the person.

The jungle, which is what we call the environment of this word which we live in, gives people a false sense of security. If may be obvious that people at home in their beds are more safe than Daniel lying in the lions den, and if the spiritual factor was not involved, then that observation would be true. But people overlook, or better put, disregard the spiritual factor in life.

God was in Daniel's life. Daniel was not exempt from pressures of this world. None of us are. But Daniel had something that his enemies did not have, and that was spiritual growth, fellowship with God, and therefore the power of Gods protection despite the lions.

The last lesson we mentioned that suffering comes into our lives for several reasons. First to test our faith. Second to discipline us for our failure in our spiritual life, and third to judge those who are really out of the spiritual picture. In all of this there are others who will witness our suffering. They too may learn from our experience, or they may be warned that problems can fall on them as well. Suffering does not necessarily mean that you have been bad. This is the devils world and suffering falls on us all, simply because we live in this world. Our suffering may be do to our own poor decisions. It may be due to no fault of ours - just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Neither makes any difference. God allows suffering to continue in order to teach, in order to reinforce what we already should know, in order to punish. If you screwed up and are suffering as a result, then get back with your Bible study, make your confession (get back in fellowship) and resume your spiritual life and growth. Your suffering may come to an end or it might continue. It should make no difference, because once you get back on track with doctrine, then the purpose of suffering is not to discipline, but is now intended for blessing and there is a great deal of difference in that. Blessing builds up the soul. You have heard the term 'building character', well then think of it in that respect. Continue in your daily study and your life will get better. Get frustrated and feel sorry for yourself and your life will be miserable.

Daniel was secure in that bubble we call fellowship, in Gods refuge, in Gods palace or fortress. The lions could have torn him apart, but he would be in Paradise then. A promotion. But God sent his angel to close the jaws of the lions and Daniel was protected throughout the night. Elisha was surrounded in a city and called on God to open his eyes so that he might see the angelic powers present, and he saw an army of angels with flaming swords and flaming chariots. God sends His angels to do battle against the forces of evil from time to time. Of course we cannot see them, but we have His word and therefore we have to trust in its truth.

Daniel was the safest person on earth, and we too are the safest persons on earth when we choose to live in that sphere of fellowship and continue in our spiritual growth. We will not escape the pressures of life, but we can be calm in our life when the pressures strike. Some of us might have been born with deficiencies. Most of us might not be listed among the 'beautiful' people of life - you know the cover girls / boys. Most of us do not have great athletic abilities. Most of us do not have high IQ's. Most of us do not have fat bank accounts. Most of us do not live in the 'better' neighborhoods. Most of us fit the John and Jane Doe descriptions of life. We will never be in the history books, on earth at least, nor popular in the publics eye. We have two left feet, three fingers or six. our hearing or eyesight leaves a lot to be desired if it exists at all. Our bodies are far from perfect. We have to deal with injustices, bias, prejudice, low income, bad marriages, bad friends, everything you can think of in life. There are many sources of pressures in life, and these are but a few.

But our life here on earth is nothing when we consider eternity. That is where 100 % of our life will occur. So we simply gut it out in this life, sticking with our daily Bible study and maintaining a spiritual status which God prefers us to have, and we get through life. God will lift us above our deficiencies and sufferings and He will give us a very good life, and a life in eternity beyond our imagination. Do not focus (pout) on your problems. Focus on God, His Word, your fellowship status, and your spiritual growth. Maintain it and keep it. Your spiritual life is the most important thing you possess. God will guide you through your predicament. Whatever suffering you might be experiencing, God will turn it into blessing. Doesn't matter whether it was your fault or not. We all make mistakes, so just pick yourself up and dust yourself off and resume moving forward in your life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
