Dan. 10:14-17

Lesson # Dan. 10:14-17
Study Material - Dan. 10:14-17

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 10:14-17

14 'Now I have come to give you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to the days yet future.' 15 And when he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless. 16 And behold, one who resembled a human being was touching my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, and said to him who was standing before me, 'O my lord, as a result of the vision anguish has come upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 'For how can such a servant of my lord talk with such as my lord? As for me, there remains just now no strength in me, nor has any breath been left in me.'

The angel told Daniel why he had come - to tell him what would happen to his people in the latter days. And then he told Daniel the details of what would happen to his people. His explanation and vision, 'the vision pertains to the days yet future', was given between verses 14 and 15. We are not given the details in the book of Daniel.

Today we have the details as recorded facts of history and that which is given in the book of Revelation. Daniel remember, had already been given the details of chapter 11. Chronologically that occurred two years prior. In fact Daniel had been given all of the details of the previous chapters of this book, which we had read thus far. But here we are not given the story by way of explanation and vision as Daniel was given. This part was not recorded.

What happened? Daniel was floored and speechless by the revelation just given. The angel knew the details of history obviously. He had to have known them in order to tell Daniel. Later he will mention that he needs to return to battle the prince (demon leader) of Persia and that the prince (demon leader) of Greece is about to advance in history. Angels know history before it is going to happen. How much history? Well not all of history, but enough to be appropriately informed and prepared to meet the confrontations that will be offered by Satan and his hordes. 1 Pet. 1:12 tells us that angels long to look into the matters of history and to learn. They learn through their observations, interactions, and of course what they themselves are told. Angels are not omniscient. They are created beings just as you and I are, Psa. 148:2. The difference between humans and angels in creation is that the angels were all created simultaneously (they do not procreate as humans do, Matt. 22:30), and we humans come into being by generations throughout history, through procreation. I presume that you all know about the birds and the bees. The angels were all created perfect as we saw in the creation of Lucifer - perfection. and they were all in harmony when the universe was created after them, Job 38:7, they sang together.

Then something happened. Lucifer got it in his mind that he could be as great or greater than God. He fell, he was charged, he led a rebellion, his followers were charged or perhaps a better word would be indicted as with a crime. They refused to change their minds. There became a division between all the angels - those who sided with God were called chosen or elect, 1 Tim. 5:21, or they were classified as fallen, 2 Pet. 2:4. They lost the radiance of their former life and their names or identities were changed and now they are called demons or devils, which are just names for angels that have fallen and have been judged to the lake of fire. They are unrepentant and remain intensely stubborn and against God and will continue to remain unrepentant until they are finally executed in the lake of fire.

In the interim we have human history with all its pleasures and heartaches. Daniel saw the heartaches, the reasons for them and the repercussions of his peoples decisions throughout their history. We can look back on history and see the heartaches of the Jewish peoples, much of which has been brought on themselves through punishment for their unrepentant attitude. The Jewish faith, or Judaism, rejects Jesus Christ. They still look to a deliverer, but not one who will go to a Cross for their sins, but one who will deliver them a permanent kingdom into which they will rule and then enjoy life as they want to have it. Wrong idea, and it gets them into trouble every time.

This is true about anyone in history (not just limited to the Jewish peoples) who pursues false religion or any anti-God philosophy. Trouble is close behind. Many cultures in history have disappeared because of their degeneracy and anti-God (the true God, Jesus Christ) attitude.

The angel is still there. Daniel wonders just how he can be worthy even to speak to this angel in light of the history which has just been presented to him. The presumptions of mankind are enormous, the self righteousness of mans ego is enormous as well. The intensity of the Tribulation, those end times of the Age of Israel, will be tremendous as well. Just as Daniel through only seeing into the future lost all his strength and collapsed, so imagine how it will affect those future peoples who will have to live through it all.

We are not given the details here because the purpose of this chapter is to teach us that there is an angelic conflict ongoing. The angels have a hierarchy within which they have duties, responsibilities, authority, etc. Life continues far beyond our human realm. Much of life, that actually controls life, exists on a plane which we cannot even see. We only read about it.

How do angels communicate or influence man? We saw that mankind in worshipping anything other than Gods Word, is in reality worshipping the demons behind the objects of their worship. Those things of worship fill up a long list - religion of all sorts, cults, atheistic attitudes (Satan hits us from every angle), science concepts, evolution, big bang theory, little bang (just kidding), technology salvation (you know, better vitamins, better medicine, better computers, space travel, etc.), and so on and so forth. All these things exclude God, that is if your think they are the answer to life's problems.

Angels offer influence to mankind in various ways. The serpent (indwelled by Satan) fooled Eve, and thus introduced and influenced her with the concepts of being as good as God into her mind. History has been filled with demon possession and influence concepts, with the reading of tea leaves, astrology, reading bones, or reading a liver, witchcraft activities, idolatry (the worship or paying honor to any 'thing' other than God. This includes anything from little necklaces to large stone idols), divination's (trying to see into the future), fortune telling, oracle predictions, necromancy (communication with the dead or communication with demons), phallic cult activities (worship incorporating sexual related activities), mysticism (looking for a deeper, more meaningful spirituality usually through delusions induced by drugs or alcohol or some other escape from reality). These are of course all false concepts.

These activities are not limited to the poor people of the land, but to kings and rulers of all generations. Saul and Nebuchadnezzar were two such leaders who were influenced by this type of demon activity. This is true today as well.

And so throughout history (many centuries) Satan has been able to introduce his concepts to mankind and thus attempt to influence the course of history in his attempt to discredit and defeat God. How do we fight this onslaught?

Eph. 6:13, take up the full armor of God, Bible doctrine in the soul. Spiritual grow this our defense. God is our offense. Stand fast for God will fight for you this day.

What can we say to such a revelation? Not much. Daniel collapsed, speechless. We can do nothing but advance in our spiritual lives and that in turn gives us far more power than we could otherwise come up with ourselves.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
