Dan. 11:36-37

Lesson # Dan. 11:36-37
Study Material - Dan. 11:36-37

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Dan. 11:36-37

36 'Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and will speak monstrous things against the God of gods; and he will prosper until the indignation is finished, for that which is decreed will be done. 37 'And he will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will magnify himself above them all.

The text takes an abrupt turn in verse 36. The time clock is jumped ahead into the future, to the time of the Tribulation. The 'king' referenced is not Antiochus in this passage, he will have died long ago historically within this passage. The time is when this 'king' will prosper, etc. until the time of 'indignation' is completed (accomplished).

The second reference to this 'king' comes later in this chapter in verse 40, when the kings of the south and north respectively attack this 'king. So this again describes a different person other than the king of the north and/or king of the south. Three individuals are referenced in these verses.

The king herein referenced is the king of the middle regions between the North and the South kingdoms. This is Palestine, or if we look at the map today, it is a reference to the region of our current day country of Israel. He is the dictator ruler of Israel, the second beast referred to in Revelation. He is not the anti-christ ruler of the revived Roman empire (as many these days call it), or as Daniel calls him, the eleventh 'little' horn which rises out of the ten, conquers three and takes authority over the remaining seven. That person is yet another evil ruler of the Western power.

So now we have a little description of this Jewish dictator.

He will 'do as he pleases', he pursues his own pleasures. He is extremely arrogant and self righteous. He will care nothing for the 'common person', but will desire their approbation. Odd as it may seem, he desires the attentions of people, but despises the very people he seeks to worship him.

And, 'he will exalt and magnify himself above every god', his arrogance carries him to the brink of needing nothing from anyone or anything, much less a god. He will have a very large ego needless to say. But the down side to this is that people will get hurt as his extreme arrogance sees peoples as useless unless they benefit himself in some way.

He will 'speak monstrous things against the God'. He will not only ridicule the various god concepts at the time, he will defy The God, Jesus Christ. His blasphemy will be beyond comparison. His challenge to God and gods will be yet more attempts to elevate himself in the minds of the general population. Weak minded people love a cocky leader, and follow anyone who seems to be running the show. Therein will be the culmination of his downfall.

Despite his cocky attitude, he is not the one who defined his own existence. He did not cause his own birth, nor keep himself alive when he was but a babe and nursing on momma. Yet now he thinks he is the cats meow and that destiny has somehow selected him out for greatness. This is all in his imagination.

He was decreed by God. Jesus Christ controls history. We do not. We do not choose the time in which we will be born. We cannot choose the time of our death. Even suicides fail at times when God decides it is not their time. Some may succeed but God permits that. We cannot control the thoughts of others in the world, nor their actions. We cannot control economies or even the weather. There is not much we can control in life except our own thoughts and decisions.

So this dictator is beyond mental illness. He is focused on his own self importance thinking he controls his destiny. But as we read, he will continue only until a time which God permits, and then he will die. The very God he will profane is the very God who gave him life and will take it away again.

He will show no regard for the gods or religions currently acceptable in the world. He will not align himself with any faith, or belief. He is an unbeliever for certain, and atheist for convenience, and beyond that, he loves not women, but the contrary. He is a homosexual. His sexual practices are not his focus in life, but merely a convenience. The Bible implies hat women intimidate him in some fashion. No hate is implied, but cowardice as a man when it comes to the courtship of women cancels out his masculinity. This is replaced with his extreme attitude as being better than any deity in existence. He is under total delusion. He ignores his very real weaknesses, and replaces them with his total arrogance and subsequently bully style aggression and violence.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
