Dan. 11:44-45

44 But tidings [shamuw`ah] out of the east [mizrach] and out of the north [tsaphown] shall trouble [bahal] him: therefore he shall go forth [yatsa] with great [gadowl] fury [chemah] to destroy [shamad], and utterly to make away [charam] many [rab].

45 And he shall plant [nata] the tabernacles [ohel] of his palace [appeden] between the seas [yam] in the glorious [tsabiy] holy [qodesh] mountain [har]; yet he shall come [bow] to his end [qets], and none shall help [azar] him. KJV-Interlinear

44 'But rumors from the East and from the North will disturb him, and he will go forth with great wrath to destroy and annihilate many. 45 'And he will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him. NASB

The Northern power has enjoyed a successful assault through the Middle East. Israel is theirs, as well as the territories from Persia, Iran, to Egypt, and North and Central Africa. The Northern power has launched an assault against the foreign powers worldwide. First to handicap them, then to reduce their resolve in getting involved in this conflict. They made a mistake.

Israel was at ease in their peaceful setting, and thought their comfort was secure with the alliance they enjoyed from the West.

Eze. 38:8

8 'and they are living securely, all of them.'

Then, the storm from the north overwhelmed them and over ran Africa.

The West countered from the western flank and the Eastern power with its huge army will counter attack from the eastern flank, and the Northern power quickly terminated its advance into deep Africa, and turned back to meet the threat.

Eze. 39:3

3 'And I shall strike your bow from your left hand, and dash down your arrows from your right hand.'

The Army of the North turned back to meet the threat, and here is when Israel becomes a furious and frenzied killing ground. Two thirds of the Jews will die as we have already seen. Only one third of the population will survive to see the deliverance of Christ on his Second Advent return.

We saw that were it not for His, Christ's return, all of mankind would annihilate itself, Matt. 24:22, Luke 13:20.

Matt. 24:22

22 And unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be cut short. NASB

So the conflict is worldwide. There is no corner where one can go and hide to escape the violence.

The battle ensues. Isaiah describes terrible horrors in battle southeast of the Dead Sea, Isa 63. No one is unstained, (bloodstains) from the wine press of violence.

Isa. 63:1-6

1 Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majestic in His apparel, Marching in the greatness of His strength? It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press? 3 I have trodden the wine trough alone, And from the peoples there was no man with Me. I also trod them in My anger, And trampled them in My wrath; And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments, And I stained all My raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redemption has come. 5 And I looked, and there was no one to help, And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvation to Me; And My wrath upheld Me. 6 And I trod down the peoples in My anger, And made them drunk in My wrath, And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth. NASB

Zechariah describes heavy fighting around Jerusalem and Judah, Zech. 12:2+.

Zech. 12:2-3

2 Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. 3 And it will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it. NASB

The Jewish leadership, who are by now, believers in Christ, will put up a miraculous fight, destroying all those who are attacking them from all directions. Jerusalem, like Bastogne during World War II was a problem for the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge, will be a heavy burden for the Northern Army. So much so, that they will become obsessed with the destruction of Jerusalem. They will fail.

Eze. 38:18-22

18 'And it will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,' declares the Lord GOD, 'that My fury will mount up in My anger. 19 'And in My zeal and in My blazing wrath I declare that on that day there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 'And the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence; the mountains also will be thrown down, the steep pathways will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 'And I shall call for a sword against him on all My mountains,' declares the Lord GOD. 'Every man's sword will be against his brother. 22 'And with pestilence and with blood I shall enter into judgment with him; and I shall rain on him, and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire, and brimstone.'

The Northern army will unleash the first blows of the war, but they will suffer the worst counter offensive, from the west and from the East, that has ever been launched in history. The lands of the North will suffer total annihilation. Missiles and nuclear destruction is apparent here.

The wide spread destruction and overwhelming impact on even nature itself, certainly indicates the usage of horrendous weapons of mass destruction.

What happens in a war zone when there is no one to help, verse 45? The wounded die of exposure. The dead do not get removed from the field. The stench, the lack of logistical support, (no food, no fuel, no medicines), no resources whatsoever mean total defeat and extremely high dead counts.

In every war, nature always plays a part. The cold of night, the heavy rains, mud and so forth slow down the advance of equipment and its repair, communications are hampered, connections get interrupted. An army, which loses its eyes and support, becomes spread out, fragmented, disoriented, and finally defeated.

Even the homelands of the Northern Power are not safe.

Eze. 39:6

6 'And I shall send fire upon Magog and those who inhabit the coastlands in safety; and they will know that I am the LORD.'

The entire Northern powers, its army and its homelands, are destroyed. What remains are the Northern Army s military forces still in Israel. Two powers down, two to go, and the end of this dispensation is very, very near.

But to those who are hiding in the mountains, the lull gives a false sense of things being over. Don't come out just yet. There is still another fight to come. See verses 11 and 12 in the next chapter of Daniel. The Western power is still advancing. The Eastern power is still advancing. And Jerusalem is still in the middle.

There are still a super darkness, and super earthquakes, worldwide, yet to come. The two major powers are still advancing on the Northern Army s forces stationed in the large valley, just north of Jerusalem.

The magnitude of all of this thus far, when it is finally all over?

Eze. 39:9-10

9 'Then those who inhabit the cities of Israel will go out, and make fires with the weapons and burn them, both shields and bucklers, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears and for seven years they will make fires of them. 'And they will not take wood from the field or gather firewood from the forests, for they will make fires with the weapons.'

As the delivered peoples enter into the millennium, their primary source of fuel will come off of the battlefield. There will be so much of it, battle debris, or so few people, that the fuel and supplies will last those who survive into the Millennium, for seven years.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson
