Deuteronomy 6:5-9

Lesson # Deut. 6:5-9
Study Material - Deut. 6:5-9

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Deut. 6:5-9

5 And thou shalt love [ahab] the LORD [Yahovah] thy God [elohiym] with all thine heart [lebab] , and with all thy soul [nephesh] , and with all thy might [maod] .
6 And these words [dabar] , which I command [tsavah] thee this day [yowm] , shall be in thine heart [lebab] :
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently [shanan] unto thy children [ben] , and shalt talk [dabar] of them when thou sittest [yashab] in thine house [bayith] , and when thou walkest [yalak] by the way [derek] , and when thou liest down [shakab] , and when thou risest up [quwm] .
8 And thou shalt bind [qashar] them for a sign [owth] upon thine hand [yad] , and they shall be as frontlets [towphaphah] between thine eyes [ayin] .
9 And thou shalt write [kathab] them upon the posts [mazuwzah] of thy house [bayith] , and on thy gates [shaar] . KJV-Interlinear

Deut. 6:5-9

5 'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; 7 and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. 9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. NAS

In short, as these verses state, we are to commit our entire being (body, soul, and spirit) to our spiritual life. Again here is a reference to that pump, the heart, within your physical body which pumps your blood throughout your body. In the spiritual sense, your heart of soul is that function which pumps or circulates what you think throughout your soul.

You cannot think what you do not know. You cannot circulate through your soul, that which it does not contain. So you have to learn Bible doctrine first. Also, you have to be in fellowship when you learn Bible doctrine so that it will enter your soul via your human spirit. This gives you the benefit of the spiritual value that Bible doctrine contains.

If you are an unbeliever or an out of fellowship believer, then you can certainly read the Bible, even memorize it, but the spiritual value it holds will not be there for your use. Academic information is not spiritual information and therein lies the difference between the two.

We are to commit our lives to God and His Word. Not only are we to listen (Hear), but we are to commit our daily lives to Gods Word and the principles taught. We are to communicate these truths to our children. We are to live by the principles of doctrine by day and even at night when we sleep.

Many people will go to bed and dream their lusts or frustrations through the night. Out of fellowship is out of fellowship, whether you are asleep or awake. Confession is required probably each and every morning (at least it is a good idea) when you first wake up, just to get yourself back into fellowship for any spiritual infraction you may have had during the night. No extra charge for this suggestion.

We are to bind our lives with Gods word. That is what we do from day to day (to bind our hands). We are to commit our entire household to Gods Word (engrave them on your doorposts and gates of your home). Our home is also a representative word for our soul, for that is where our real home is.

And most important, we are to drill Gods Word into our foreheads. The forefront of our thinking. Not on the back burner for convenient referral if and when we need a genie, but Gods Word is to be in the forefront of our thinking process.

If we do this, and there is that big word 'if.' But if we do this, commit our lives to God, and that again means being responsible in all three major areas of responsibility in which God commands us, then God will not withhold any 'good' thing from us. And that little word 'good' can have a very huge impact on our lives.

We have everything to gain and nothing to lose when we fall into obedience with Gods plan for our lives. We may have a miserable situation in our life, but it comes to us not by accident but by Gods design. Your test may be little or great. Some of us would prefer to face lions or hurricanes. At least we know what we can expect from those kind of things. But God generally puts us in situations where we do not know what to expect. We may be handicapped. We may be in a bad economic situation. We may just be bored in life. Whatever your weakness, your only way out is through Bible study and spiritual growth.

And so long as you are alive and breathing, you have (emphasis on - you have) that opportunity to become a winner in your spiritual life. Only your bad attitude will prevent it, so don't look for some other excuse to get out of Bible study. Be wise or be stupid - it is always your choice.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
