Ecclesiastes 5:4-7

Lesson # Eccl. 5:4-7
Study Material - Eccl. 5:4-7

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Eccl. 5:4-7

4 When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it, for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! 5 It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. 6 Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands? 7 For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.

We are to be on guard of that which is valuable to us - our spiritual life. We are not to be hasty or impulsive, but rather be thoughtful and utilize wisdom in an appropriate manner in our lives.

Vows are commitments of the soul. God looks to the soul of the individual to see if the person is worthy (advancing in their spiritual life) or if they are the fool, verse 4.

When we are born into this world we owe God a hearing. He gave us human life, and for that we have one obligation to Him, and that is to Hear His truth (the gospel), and then we may choose whether we will believe in Him or ignore Him in our life. When we believe in Christ, we have in effect given God a vow. We have given over our soul in this spiritual marriage, to Him.

This vow makes us responsible to Him for our life, for our soul. In this we are to be conscientious in our Bible study. Why? We are to pay our vows back to God in full No partial payments, no half efforts or no efforts are acceptable to God. These are the payments of the fool, and God disciplines the fool. The fool is one who has little Bible doctrine in their soul, if any, or they are simply out of fellowship constantly in their life. Probably not even knowing the meaning of fellowship or its purpose. So conscientiousness is our obligation both to God and therefore to ourselves. This is our spiritual life we are dealing with, our most prized possession. Remember that the spiritually mature people are the apple of Gods eye. Fools, immature negative believers, bear no delight for God, only His wrath.

We are to be cautious in our spiritual life. We are to avoid making inappropriate payments (our daily study of Bible doctrine). Inappropriate payments would include the misapplication of Gods Word, twisting doctrine into wrong principles, or making new rules which we add to Gods Word - Can't chew gum on Sunday, can't dance with anyone but your wife, accusing someone of being a witch, gossiping against others because its your 'duty', attending church (Bible study if it even exists) on holidays only, giving God some courteous acknowledgment but never really caring anything about God or the Bible or its principles.

The silly rules, the self righteous attitudes, the apathetic attitudes, the partial interest in God, all these and more are the patterns of fools. Better that you not engage in these petty types of norms and standards in life, than to engage in wrong norms and standards that you attempt to superimpose on others. Crusaders are some of the most self righteous and evil of peoples alive. Ignoring a thing will not necessarily trap you in its deceitful ways. But once you engage or even flirt with some type of philosophy, then you run the risk of being caught up in it, and thereby being destroyed by it, as well as hurting others.

Your life is an open book to God and those in heaven that observe you from day to day. Remember the angels that watch and observe humanity, as we studied in Daniel. Your life is watched. Your record, your detailed record, your very, very detailed record, is maintained in heaven. Nothing escapes God, not even those who document your life. You cannot fool anyone. No angels cannot read your thoughts, but they do observe your words and actions. Your state of soul is always revealed sooner or later through word or deed.

Better that you be straight or honest with God, by maintaining a daily Bible study, by growing up, by applying those Biblical principles you learn, to your daily life, than to try to play games, or to simply reject God altogether. An occasional ooops can be dealt with, but the repetitive ooops's are a pattern of life that will draw fire (discipline) from God. Thus the destruction of work of your hands. Gods work is indestructible. Mans work will fade away.

Do not waste time on empty dreams, or attempting to baffle people with your endless words. Both being based on the empty wisdom of this world. Instead transfer the wisdom of God, from the written word, into your soul in the proper way of Bible study, and maintain and build that palace, that temple, that fortress in your soul, giving you an independence from the jungle that surrounds us all. Fear God and value what He has to offer to you, your spiritual life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
