Exodus 3:7-8

Lesson # Exodus 3:7-8
Study Material - Exodus 3:7-8

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 3:7-8

7 And the LORD said, 'I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. 8 So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.

God reminds Moses that He has 'seen', He has 'heard', He is 'aware' of the troubles of the Israelites, His chosen people. Who are Gods chosen? Those who believe in Him (Jesus Christ). Is this strictly a genetic relationship? No. It is a spiritual relationship.

Here we are looking to the peoples of Israel, the descendants of Jacob's twelve sons, but as we apply these principles to our lives, we too are Gods chosen people, through our faith in Christ. God chooses those who choose Him.

God is aware of the problems of the Israelites. He is aware of your problems as well. Will he wait 400 years before responding to you? No. Although some people probably could use a lot of discipline (say 400 years worth) before they get with the program.

The Israelites went to Egypt of their own volition. They stayed there of their own volition. But the web of Egypt's enticements, trapped them and they became slaves to the very choices they made. This is how we all get trapped and in trouble in our lives. We make bad choices based on our carnal desires. We stick with our bad choices as things seem to be, not that bad really, and we continue to slooowly slip further into our trap. Then before you know it, you are deep inside and in deep trouble.

Who will help? No one, but God. That is if you are smart enough to call on Him in the right manner. Too often people get into trouble and call on God, but they are out of fellowship, out of touch, and there is no one to hear them.

Now 400 years later, some spiritual rebirth in many of the Israelites has emerged. This could be you late on your life. Your life wasted for perhaps decades. Their history as a nation wasted for four centuries.

Who is in the land that was originally promised to Shem, then to Abraham? Well in Gen. 15 there were ten nations there, 19 the Kenite and the Kenizzite and the Kadmonite 20 and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim 21 and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.

Now six of those ten are listed - the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. In Josh. 3 and Deu. 7, and Josh 24, they will face seven powerful nations, (the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite) as they finally get into the land, which is still another 40 years away.

The land of Canaan does not remain stable during the last six hundred years since Abraham, but the peoples have changed and still continue to change in their makeup. During that long time, the descendants of Canaan, the son of Ham, upon whom (Canaan) the curse was directed, have degenerated to the point such that their 'time was full'. Like Sodom, their time was up. But unlike Sodom, God would remove them by means of the Israelites.

They were in a land that was not given to them. They should have gone further through the land to Africa, but many peoples remained in Canaan and even named it after Canaan, but they disregarded the command of God, the wishes of Noah, and defiantly rejected everything but their own desires. Now there time was up, or was about to be up.

The Israelites had lost their freedom through their own decisions and were oppressed under the rule of the Egyptians. The Egyptians were their masters. They were slaves to sin, the sin of their choice.

The Canaanite peoples had their freedom, but lost their sense of responsibility to God and then mankind. They were a cruel and wicked people, even toward their own kind. They worshipped idols, practiced human sacrifices and such.

The Egyptians had made great advances in science and architecture and such things, but they violated their responsibility to other peoples, the Israelites. They were cruel to those who would be weaker than they and enslaved them to do their bidding.

Only one group turned to God, the Israelites (including a few Egyptians as well as others). That is when things began to get better or them.

God knows all of the facts. God has a plan for everyone's life. The timing was right and now God was gong to call on Moses to approach Pharaoh as an ambassador from God. Moses will deliver the message, the request - 'Let the people go.' Then the demand - 'Let the people go.' Then the ultimatum - 'Let the people go.'

Pharaoh will be defiant to his own destruction. The Israelites will contribute nothing to their own deliverance. God will do all of the work. This is true for them and it is true for each one of you. Your responsibility is to God. To study, to learn, to obey. God will do all of the rest, and He will direct you in the things that you need to do (much of which comes from common sense which you learn as well).

The Israelites will be told to paint their doors (salvation), to cross the Red Sea (leave the carnal life), to be faithful in the desert (faith), to cross the Jordan (spiritual maturity). These are all applications of what they have learned. You too, need to apply Gods Word to your life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
