Exodus 6:28-30

Lesson # Exodus 6:28-30
Study Material - Exodus 6:28-30

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 6:28-30

28 Now it came about on the day when the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 that the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 'I am the LORD; speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak to you.' 30 But Moses said before the LORD, 'Behold, I am unskilled in speech; how then will Pharaoh listen to me?'

These last few verses are repeated from prior verses, but why? Why did the writer of this passage, Moses, interrupt and insert the genealogy, then repeat the command of God as well as the objection of Moses?

Why do we even study the Bible? Why do we get up everyday, go to work, come home, pay bills, and repeat the same thing day after day all of our lives. What is the point? What do we gain from reading the Bible? In the beginning God created.... Ok! And so and so begat, and so and so begat... Ok! So what does all of this do for us anyway? Where is the magic, the genie, the mystery that will reveal our greatness and pay us the bug bucks for our part in life?

This is answered in this passage, but most do not see the answer, because they look at the trees inside the forest, rather than looking at the forest from above. I've been doing this Bible study online for about four years now, and longer off line before that. I have seen the recipient list grow to an unbelievably large size. Needless to say there are folks that sign off of the list just as there are folks that are new and sign on to the list, but the list continues to grow overall. What does everyone expect from their Bible study? Occasionally I get explanations from those who sign off - 'I'm too busy right now but will be back later.', 'Why don't you do this book or that book?' 'This is too slow.' 'I don't believe that.' And a lot of other explanations of course as you would expect. I get complaints from Catholics, from Muslims, etc., that I and too harsh concerning them. That I should be more sympathetic toward their views.

Actually I have only said that you do not pray to Mary, and Allah is a false god, and so forth. But that is not the point that I am driving at here. Why do we study our Bible.

'Study to show thyself approved unto God.' The word for approved really means mature, or spiritual maturity. But what does that gain us?

Moses again asks how in the world Pharaoh will listen to him, but it is not Moses that Pharaoh is going to be listening to. Moses may be speaking the words, but the words are Gods and Gods alone. The event is between God and Pharaoh. Moses does nothing but say 'only' what God told him to say. He is to add nothing to those words, nor take away from them. Just stand before Pharaoh and speak the words. End of Moses' role in the whole affair. God really does all of the work. Just as God placed all of these words in the Bible in the order in which we read them.

God reminds us of our origin. That none of us are pure in our race, but a result of the mixing of all races since Adam, or even since Noah, if you will. We were not on hand for creation, nor the flood, nor for the crossing of the Red Sea. Who held that water up on both sides like walls of a hallway? Who sustained the Hebrews through four centuries of increased oppression?

Now for you and me. Who was there at our birth? Who imputed life into our soul? Who sustains our heartbeat? Who numbers our days of life and has determined the moment of our death?

Place your finger on the table in front of you. That point that the tip of your finger covers represents the entire length of human history - thousands of years. Now look to your right and then left and look in either direction until you can see the last star in the universe, and beyond. Of course you cannot see those stars, but that distance represents eternity. The amount of time that has transpired before you existed, and the amount of time that will continue after you die. But when you die your soul will continue forever. If you took a needle and made a point on that spot that your finger is covering, than that needle point represents your entire life. We are insignificant when it comes to history and time. And that is all the time we have to get our eternal portfolio together.

Were we placed here to make something of this world so that we might discover eternal life in this life and become able to live forever while in our physical bodies? No. This is not our permanent home. We are here only temporarily, but while here, God allows us to make a choice. We can choose for Him or we can ignore Him in our lives.

Choosing for God means that we study our Bibles daily. We read the 'in the beginnings,' and the 'begats,' and we trust in God to build up our soul such that when we get to heaven we will be prepared and ready to receive those exceedingly great blessings above and beyond our wildest imaginations.

What awaits us here in time? Misery if we ignore God. Blessing if we embrace God. What does this Bible study do for us? It build up our soul spiritually. Spiritual food (Bible study), is the nourishment that the soul requires to remain healthy. Lack of it means that the soul will suffer in its health. The soul is a sponge and will suck in everything that comes from our environment. Some of the philosophies are good because they have somewhat of a foundation in Bible doctrine, like law and order, like proper morality and so forth. May things are bad like selfishness, crime, deceit, self righteousness. This terrorist group is a good example of souls gone really bad. Like Pharaoh, their souls were hardened by themselves, shutting out all elements of good in them. Their souls are full of rot and their evil policies toward others is a result of their shutting down of their own attitude toward right, as they have embraced wrong.

By studying Bible doctrine daily we have a chance to keep our soul open to spiritual food, therefore we maintain a healthy soul. By remaining in fellowship God the Holy Spirit controls our soul and guides us in our daily lives in accordance with the doctrine that we have and continue to learn. It is all supernatural. Nothing in the spiritual life is physical. We cannot sense any part of the spiritual life. We cannot see, smell, taste, feel, or hear any part of it. We cannot even logically deduce the spiritual life. It is beyond the human mental ability. 'All spiritual things are foolishness to the common man.' Unbelievers cannot discover it on their own. Only through hearing the gospel can an unbeliever find the spiritual life. And in that God does all of the communicating as well. Man merely hears and either believes or rejects, both of which are functions of thought.

Where are the magic formulas for life? There are none. No magic wand, no genie. Just the day to day drudgery of Bible study and living ones life. Bible study is a life time commitment, not a one time semester study program where you learn or read it once then go on to another book or subject.

Sure you can get frustrated or mad from time to time and stop studying your Bible, but who does that hurt? Yourself, and no one else. You are preparing yourself for eternity. You learn Bile doctrine, you maintain fellowship, you grow up to spiritual maturity, thus preparing you for two things. First it prepares you for this life, giving you the capacity to endure the bad times in life and the capacity to enjoy the good ones as well. Does it make you a super person in life? No. You are still the same old you. You will be more relaxed in life, more thoughtful, certainly more discerning. And second, this prepares you for eternity. While all believers go to heaven and will receive a resurrection body as well as many other blessings, only mature believers will receive those exceedingly great blessings of eternity. Those are blessings that far exceed the blessings that all other believers will receive. Just as there is a huge difference between being a believer verses an unbeliever (heaven verses hell), so also there is a huge difference between being a negative believer with virtually no spiritual growth, and that of being a mature believer.

Our goal in life is to achieve this winning status of spiritual maturity. And how do we attain it? By studying daily!

The Lord spoke to Moses, 'I Am', the self sufficient one, the origin of all resources, 'The Lord', the eternally existing one. He has the means and the where with all to accomplish His plan for our lives. We are to just do as He says, nothing more. Neither adding to His word, nor taking away from it, but merely obeying what God commands. Furthermore we are to avoid sarcasm toward Gods word. None of us have the ability to invent a better spiritual life.

Then we turn around and apply what we know to our lives. This gives us a stable life, a stable society and so forth. This further reinforces our spiritual growth. Only when people get greedy, get self conceited, get lusts for power or authority, or wealth and so forth, do things get mixed up in the world. But then that is our environment. As we face the difficulties of life (without falling apart), we further reinforce our spiritual growth as we apply Gods promises to our situation, 'Cast all your cares on Him.'

We study and we learn the spiritual lessons from our studies. Pharaoh is the bad guy or the world out there. God is the good guy or the only solution. Moses is you and me. Now we either get out lives together and get with a program for ourselves, or we let our pride, or negative attitude, or excuses, get in our own way and we destroy ourselves.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
