Exodus 11:9-10

Lesson # Exodus 11:9-10
Study Material - Exodus 11:9-10

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 11:9-10

9 Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that My wonders will be multiplied in the land of Egypt.' 10 And Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh; yet the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.

Here is given summary as well as the close of Moses first two thirds of his life, from his birth to the conclusion of his interactions with Pharaoh and Egypt.

'The Lord said', is a past tense, 'The Lord has said', that Pharaoh will not release the Hebrews, and this will give God an opportunity to demonstrate many things.

First, that negative volition is an extremely powerful attitude. Rejection of God and therefore rejection of the truth of life will lead people down a path of doom. They are blinded to their own destruction. We are presently seeing this in that Tora-Bora fight in Afghanistan. Those terrorists types are so diluted in their belief of their murderous cause that they will never see the truth of their false beliefs. That is that their beliefs are false and totally misguided. So it is with Pharaoh. And later on, too with the Israelites in the desert, and later on again with the Pharisees, and so forth in history with various peoples who have been negative toward God and thus pursued many and various prejudicial beliefs, etc.

To all of these, that is all of these negative people in history, even in our present day, God gives a spirit of stupor, Rom. 11:8. What is that exactly? That is the freedom to make their own bad choices and to pursue their own wrong beliefs in life. God invented the soul. God invented human life which is inserted into the soul at birth ('out from the womb' as it is described in the Hebrew text of various passages). God invented the physical body out of the dust of the earth. God initiated biological life in the physical body which occurs at conception. God also invented the human spirit, as well as eternal life which is inserted into the human spirit at the point of spiritual birth (that moment when you believe in Christ).

So we all have potentially three beginnings. Two for sure if you are alive and actually reading or hearing this study, and the third if and only if you have believed in Christ. Just as your physical body needs proper nutrition and exercise to keep yourself healthy and strong, so too your soul needs proper nutrition and exercise. Bible doctrine is that proper nutrition. Thought or application of Gods word to your life is that exercise (the entire book of James). When you reject Gods word, then you are opening the door of bad health to your soul, just as if you were a drunk or drug addict, etc., destroying your physical body. So then negative volition is powerful and when you get too far along in that pattern of rejection, then sooner or later you will cross that line of no return. Your soul will be hardened to your own demise.

Second, the Egyptians saw the power of God, thought they attributed it to Moses. This allows the entire nation of Israel to leave virtually unhindered.

Third, the neighbors of Egypt will hear of these events and they will give a wide birth to the Israelites. They will also be disheartened when Joshua and the nation eventually cross the Jordan River. They will in effect have already been defeated in their own souls.

And fourth, of course the Israelites have seen and experienced their own deliverance from bondage, or they will soon.

From Moses birth until now, or until the Passover, that period represents the period of life of each person while outside the salvation provided by God. We, as unbelievers in Christ, are slaves from which we cannot gain our own freedom. Even in slavery there are levels of hierarchy, ie., the worker bees and the Pharaoh's as it were, with everything in between. The jungle is our world and its rules our masters..

The Passover will represent the work of Christ on the Cross. This prepares the way of salvation to all who believe in Him. The journey to the Red Sea will represent the period of decision by which we have the opportunity to accept Christ or reject him. That is to cross over the Red Sea or return to Egypt. The Red Sea crossing is the act of faith, or the actual salvation given to each one of us when we believe (cross over from death to life) in Christ.

The next period of our life will be represented in the desert. That period of spiritual growth, of testing, of learning to rely on Gods provision. We either succeed in that period (spiritual maturity), or we fail spiritually (thus imitating unbelievers lacking spiritual growth). The crossing over of the Jordan River will become the representation of crossing over into spiritual maturity, into the land of milk and honey. That is our objective in life.

Note that all along the way there will be attacks against us. Attacks from the world (nature), from people, from systems of bureaucracy, from our own thoughts. Our only defense is a very good offense and that is simply maintaining a daily study of Gods Word, and applying it to our thoughts and actions in life.

As a positive believer you will see successes and failures from your own life, but life is not made or broken on one or two events in life. The real key to your life is your continued and consistent pattern of faithfulness to Gods Word. Others will judge you and even attack your faith. Just ignore them. Their lives are doomed if they pursue their own negative patterns. Do not let others control your life.

The Hebrews could have become upset as they did with the straw incident and simply refused to leave because they were upset. That would have been allowing others (the Egyptians) to run their lives, as well as allowing their own volition to succumb to the will of others. Positive believers can make up their own minds and do not let others run their lives.

The plagues are concluded except for the last plague and that one requires some preparation as well as obedience. The other plagues did not require any acts of the Hebrews or of anyone for that matter, except for their attitude in thinking about God. This last plague will require their conscious act of faith and the action of obedience pertinent to that faith.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
