Exodus 12:11-14

Lesson # Exodus 12:11-14
Study Material - Exodus 12:11-14

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 12:11-14

11 'Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste-- it is the Lord's Passover. 12 'For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments-- I am the LORD. 13 'And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. 14 'Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.

The spiritual life makes you alert, dressed, and ready to travel at a moments notice. We will never know when God will call us home. And when he calls we need to be prepared. Our preparation is salvation first, and spiritual growth second.

Without salvation, that which is obtained through believing in Jesus Christ, then you are certainly not prepared. Eternal condemnation is your destiny and after death there is no changing your status. I'm of the belief that God gives everyone a chance to believe in Christ, but there are those who will refuse regardless of the situation. Pharaoh and most of the Egyptian population were examples of that attitude. Even in death, even after death, they are still defiant. Satan as well as the rich man who had the conversation with Abraham are perfect examples of that. So all unbelievers will go to the fires of hell and they will never change their minds even after they arrive there.

As for those who believe in Christ and are therefore saved. Their issue in life is 'what think ye of Bible study?' Spiritual growth to spiritual maturity is the paramount priority in our life. Preparation for when God calls us home. When could that happen? Well we have certainly seen examples of sudden events of death in recent months. Not all of us will go out in our sleep and at a ripe old age. May of us will go home (to heaven) sooner than we anticipate.

So just at the Israelites were commanded to be dressed, shoes on, staff in hand, ready to travel. To eat quickly, and what does that mean? To study your Bible as though your time here is short. Therefore the need to log in as much time as possible in Bible study in order to advance to spiritual maturity. To be prepared spiritually. This is the issue and the principle taught in this ritual.

Be ready, because God will go through the land of Egypt, through the land surrounding our life, and God will judge. Both man and beast will be judged. Nothing is left untouched. Nothing is overlooked. God sees all. God takes into account all. We cannot second guess God, nor can we question His wisdom.

'I am the Lord,' is really the final statement of reality. Man may have his whims in philosophy, in debate, etc. We saw all of that in the actions of Pharaoh. Pharaoh thought himself as the all powerful, all knowing. Pharaoh took great joy in ridiculing Moses. Moses was obviously, as anyone could see, the lessor of a person when compared to Pharaoh. Pharaoh had all the credentials. The right degrees. The right licenses in life. The right position in the social circles. The right position in political circles. He was wealthy beyond dreams, and powerful beyond measure. But Pharaoh was a fool, a man, and not a god. And all the gods of Egypt were witness to the stupidity of the Egyptian philosophy

Do we have ridiculous people in our day? Of course. Just look at the recent issues of our bombing in Afghanistan, then look at a minority of people in some universities who protest that bombing of 'innocents' as they call them. Do these students think that the people of Afghanistan were better off with the terrorist leadership they had, the beatings of women, weekly executions in the soccer field, a country with virtually no economy, no education, no roads to speak of, buildings that would make stone age buildings look like something modern? These students would want to talk their way to a solution of the problem, but they do not understand the mind of terrorists, of bullies. The only way to deal with them is not through negotiation, but with brute force, and brute force greater than they can deal out themselves. That is exactly what God did with Pharaoh.

Did God negotiate with Pharaoh? No. God commanded and gave us many demonstrations as to how far defiance will go. And Pharaoh's defiance went all the way to the point of death. So, yes there are fools in our world today. That is only one example. Of course, you can probably come up with many others, perhaps not so dramatic as the recent war issues, but pertinent just the same.

Blood is required by God. There is no talking ones way into heaven. God rejects all human input into His plan. Sins were judged at the Cross, therefore they obviously were excluded before entry into heaven would be allowed. And the only other thing that man has is human good, and mans works are rejected as well. In fact human good is the very thing that will be the basis of the indictment of unbelievers in the future final judgment at the Great White Throne of God. Their name will not be found in the Book of Life, but will be fond in the Book of Works, and mans works do not pay the price required by God for admission into heaven. Only Christ's work on the Cross will satisfy God, therefore human works will be rejected leaving all unbelievers with nothing to get them into heaven and therefore they will be cast into hell.

Blood painted over and around the door signifies faith in Gods plan, in His son, in compliance with Gods commands throughout ones spiritual life. For by believing in Gods plan, which is to believe in Jesus Christ, we gain Gods promise to pass over us in judgment thus insuring our life in heaven with Him for all of eternity.

Preparation is herein declared an urgent matter. Be ready. Because when God calls, there is no turning back. And if you are not ready, then it is too late to get ready.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
