Exodus 13:3-10

Lesson # Exodus 13:3-10
Study Material - Exodus 13:3-10

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Ex. 13:3-10

3 And Moses said to the people, 'Remember this day in which you went out from Egypt, from the house of slavery; for by a powerful hand the LORD brought you out from this place. And nothing leavened shall be eaten. 4 On this day in the month of Abib, you are about to go forth. 5 And it shall be when the LORD brings you to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall observe this rite in this month. 6 For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the LORD. 7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days; and nothing leavened shall be seen among you, nor shall any leaven be seen among you in all your borders. 8 And you shall tell your son on that day, saying, 'It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.' 9 'And it shall serve as a sign to you on your hand, and as a reminder on your forehead, that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth; for with a powerful hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt. 10 Therefore, you shall keep this ordinance at its appointed time from year to year.

This passage begins with 'remember', and ends with 'keep', or better put, keep on remembering by means of practicing the ritual of the feast commands, and do it annually throughout your life. The Levitical offerings are a daily ritual, representing the daily requirement of studying Gods Word and keeping it in front of your mind. The feasts throughout the year are annual reminders of the requirement of teaching ones children, such that they will have some foundation for carrying on Gods commands within their respective generation and so forth.

Remember what God has done on this day, the day of deliverance from bondage to sin, or the slavery of Egypt. This is the salvation event. When the Hebrews were delivered from Egypt, and became set apart as a nation unto God, now called Israelites, the chosen people of God. This is representative of all (both male and female) who believe in Christ, the Son of God, the Savior, the unique person of the universe. And those who believe in Christ (both male and female) become the first born adult sons (both male and female believers) in the family of God, and therefore heirs to His estate, which is everything that exists and everything that will come into existence in eternity.

The creation of the universe is from the finger work of God, Psa. 8:3, a simple task for God. The deliverance of the Hebrews out of Egypt was hand work as stated here in our passage. The actual work of salvation on the Cross required the arm of God, Isa. 59:16. Yet a little more work on Gods part, but still far less than the strength required when both arms, back and legs are required in a task. God has unlimited power, and it far exceeds infinitely that of mankind, not to mention angels who are far beyond that of mankind as well.

Remember what God has done, is the first command. Keep all leaven out of ones life is the intent of the seven day feast of Unleaven Bread. We are to live our lives in a state of sinless perfection, that means we are to confess our sins regularly to God the Father (of course none of us are perfect) and thus remain in fellowship.

Leaven represents all corruption in the life, both sin and human good. Any good works that are performed outside of fellowship constitutes human good, and therefore is excluded from Gods plan.

This first month of the year is named 'Abib' standing for green or young new grain. Certainly every believer, every new believer has the potential for producing much more as young new grain. It is grain fresh and full of potential. The only thing that need be done is the proper planting, cultivating, watering, and harvest of that grain to gain abundant production, which in turn brings even more production. That is ones Bible study and spiritual growth in the life as well as those who are affected by your life. The objective being spiritual maturity - the promised land, the land flowing with milk and honey, the cup overflowing, the life of plenty and blessing.

Seven days this feast is to be kept. Seven days is the number for the completeness of Gods plan for your life when one follows the seven spirits (we studied this in Isa. 11 and Rev. 1). Simply put this is the mechanic of ones spiritual growth and here is simplified as the consistency of transferring the written word from ones hand (verse 9) through ones eyes or ears to the forehead (verse 9), which is the frontal lobe of the mind, thus meaning the learning process, and finally the application of what one knows, to the mouth, or utilizing Gods word in ones life.

But all aspects of spiritual growth are herein included. Salvation obedience to Gods command and the application of the blood from the sacrifice of Passover to the front door posts. The eating of the sacrifice or identification and believing in the judgment of Christ on the Cross, and ones own deliverance from death. Then the exclusion of leaven or corruption in the life (fellowship), then followed by the hand, head, and mouth concepts of Bible study and spiritual growth. For seven days or to the point of completeness which is defined by God for His plan. And finally keep on doing this same thing all of your life.

As it is Christmas day, 2001. I wish to pass on all the best from my family to yours, and wish for you the very best regardless of what might come your way. Keep in the Word, Isa. 41:10

For Thou (God) will keep him (believer) in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in Thee. Trust ye in the Lord Jehovah (Jesus Christ), for in Him is ever lasting strength.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
