You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Eze. 3:1-3

1 Moreover he said [amar] unto me, Son [ben] of man [adam], eat [akal] that thou findest [matsa]; eat [akal] this roll [magillah], and go [yalak] speak [dabar] unto the house [bayith] of Israel [Yisra'el].
2 So I opened [pathach] my mouth [peh], and he caused me to eat [akal] that roll [magillah].
3 And he said [amar] unto me, Son [ben] of man [adam], cause thy belly [beten] to eat [akal], and fill [male] thy bowels [me`ah] with this roll [magillah] that I give [nathan] thee. Then did I eat [akal] it; and it was in my mouth [peh] as honey [dabash] for sweetness [mathowq]. KJV-Interlinear

1 Then He said to me, 'Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.' 2 So I opened my mouth, and He fed me this scroll. 3 And He said to me, 'Son of man, feed your stomach, and fill your body with this scroll which I am giving you.' Then I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth. NASB

God is the teacher, the instructor, the only wise being in the universe. Man is the student in this universe in which he had no part in its creation, nor its maintenance. Man is a student without portfolio, and should listen first to the Word of God, then second, to understand correctly the environment around him.

God instructs Ezekiel to eat the scroll. He is to consume the words, the content written on the page, to learn them, to understand them, and then to be able to communicate them to others.

Only the positive believer can eat the words provided by God. Only the positive believer in fellowship, can learn and understand the words written by God. Only the positive believer who has some degree of spiritual maturity, can communicate to others, the content of the words written by God.

Ezekiel is commanded to eat. Literally, make your belly eat. Fill your stomach. Belly and stomach 'beten' and 'me`im' are both used for the 'abdomen,' 'womb,' 'inward parts,' and figuratively as the 'seat of the emotions.' Ezekiel is to eat until he is full, satisfied, fulfilled, gratified with respect to a need, desire, or curiosity.

Ezekiel had the curiosity and the need to know. After all he was talking with God, and who else can give a person all of the answers to any question one might ask or think?

Eating spiritual food is something which has to be performed repeatedly. There is no, one time learn it and know it all, formula for life. The spiritual life takes time and it is a continual learning and growing up process.

God does not reveal the content of the scroll immediately, but will reveal it throughout the remainder of the Book of Ezekiel (and the rest of the Bible for that matter). Remember, the scroll is long and detailed, and there is a lot of content in it.

The Word of God is the only thing that can really fulfill ones life and provide true satisfaction in ones life. It is food for the soul, which by the way, is what your life really is.

You have three life forms and three life containers within your makeup. That is if you have believed in Christ. The first is biological life which begins at conception, and is perpetuated by the human reproductive activity. Biological life resides in the physical body. When the body dies, biological life dies along with it.

Biological life cannot sustain itself on its own. It requires another life support mechanism in order to receive life support. In the womb that support comes through the umbilical cord, and is supplied by the mother. Sever that cord prematurely and the support ceases. The fetus dis as well and is aborted. Often times this process happens naturally during the normal course of a pregnancy as the mother loses her pregnancy for whatever reason. This can be caused by an accident, or some genetic problem, or by some chemical imbalance problem such as with the use of drugs and so forth.

The second form of life is human life. That life resides in its container, the soul. Unlike biological life (dust), human life comes from God. God gives life and God takes life away. This process occurs at the point of physical birth. With human life in the soul and now resident inside the physical body, then biological life (and its body) can be disconnected from the mother and receive support from the human soul with its human life. This process of receiving human life into the soul is referred to as 'neshamah,' the spark of life, the exhale of life from God, the inhale of life by the individual.

Again, when the person dies, the biological part dies and returns to the dust of the ground. The human life and soul, which are now inseparable, do not die, but go to the Lord for disposition into the after life. An unbeliever who is only body and soul, is sent to Torments and there awaits his disposition into the Lake of Fire.

The third component of life is eternal life. Eternal life resides in its container, the human spirit. The human spirit is created at the moment the person believes in Christ. At that instant he is said to be 'reborn'. The human spirit being created in that instant receives eternal life and they adhere to the human soul permanently and the two vessels are now inseparable.

When the person dies, the body is rejected, as God rejects the common dust of the earth (son of man) and the soul and spirit along with their life components, human life and eternal life, go directly to Christ for disposition into eternity. Life returns to its source. Biological life returns to the dust. Human and eternal life returns to God.

At some point in the future the physical body will be replaced by an eternal 'resurrection' body which is not made of the dust of the earth, and it will be indestructible and then permanent and inseparable from the soul and spirit.

Now the point of all of this is, that you need to emphasize your spiritual diet in your life and not emphasize your physical diet at the expense of your spiritual.

Physical foods may taste good or bad, but they last only for the moment. You have to eat over and over, again and again, day after day and you are in effect investing in something that is going to grow old and eventually will be discarded when you die.

Spiritual food, on the other hand, will nourish the soul, which will never grow old, and that diet will always taste great regardless of the content of the message. This investment will last you forever.

The message given to Ezekiel is one of foreboding and judgment, but it applies to evil, not to Ezekiel and those who are spiritually sound. Any information coming from God is intended to provide comfort, and security to those who pursue truth in life. Knowing the truth is like drinking a glass of refreshing water. You know that evil will be vanquished and that good will triumph. And, that all things will eventually work out for the better.

Psa. 19:10
10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. NASB

Jer. 15:16
16 Thy words were found and I ate them, And Thy words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts. NASB

Prov. 24:13-14
13 My son, eat honey, for it is good, Yes, the honey from the comb is sweet to your taste; 14 Know that wisdom is thus for your soul; If you find it, then there will be a future, And your hope will not be cut off. NASB

The true student of the Word of God does not choose his message, but accepts all that is given to him by God, at Gods convenience. Perseverance in doctrine will end up with great rewards for life and for all of eternity for the positive believer.

Psa. 19:11
11 Moreover, by them Thy servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. NASB

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
