Eze. 3:10-11

10 Moreover he said [amar] unto me, Son [ben] of man [adam], all my words [dabar] that I shall speak [dabar] unto thee receive [laqach] in thine heart [lebab], and hear [shama] with thine ears [ozen].
11 And go [yalak], get [bow] thee to them of the captivity [gowlah], unto the children [ben] of thy people [am], and speak [dabar] unto them, and tell [amar] them, Thus saith [amar] the Lord [Adonay] GOD [Yahovih]; whether they will hear [shama], or whether they will forbear [chadal]. KJV-Interlinear

10 Moreover, He said to me, 'Son of man, take into your heart all My words which I shall speak to you, and listen closely. 11 'And go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or not, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.' NASB

Some who hear the Word of God, will actually listen, and then pursue their spiritual life through a daily study. Most, however, will not listen. They will close their ears and ignore the teaching from the Bible, first because they do not see any real value in what the Bible has to offer, and second, they have seen too many hypocrites out there in the world who tout the Bible, but do not live by it, and third, they do not have a clear understanding of what really the Bible has to offer. Again, too many Bible thumpers who are kooks that promote their own rules of behavior rather than the correct teaching from the Bible.

So, God tells Ezekiel to listen to Him, and in effect ignore all of the stuff that is out there in the world.

What is Ezekiel up against? An indifferent people. They have their own ideas, their own plans for their individual lives. Of course we won't mention that they are currently in slavery. Something that is generally not on ones 'life's goals' chart.

But, nevertheless, the people will be, indifferent to hostile against Ezekiel's message.

What is Ezekiel to say? Whatever God teaches him through the scriptures.

Often times we will all encounter people in discussions that will eventually come around to religion or faith or something of that order. What do you say? The doctrine that you know.

We don't try to evaluate them. We don't try to condemn them. We don't try to tell them that what they think of do is wrong or is a sin. We simply give them the truth of doctrine without trying to change their lifestyle. As they learn (if they are interested) then they will make their own changes in due course.

What are the key doctrines to teach? Salvation - believe in Christ, Fellowship - confess your sins to the Father, Spiritual Growth - study and learn and use what you learn and do it all over again.

The first (Salvation) gets you on the right path. The second and third concepts gets you headed down that right path to your goal of maturity. God does all of the rest.

Ezekiel is not to teach the things that the people 'want' to hear, but what they 'need' to hear. Being a popular teacher accomplishes nothing. Teaching the right things will do one of two things. First people will either resent you and reject you, or second they will consider what you teach and possibly learn.

But the communicator should not worry about his message. Just progressing through the Bible as we do in this study, will accomplish the objectives that all believers need - spiritual maturity.

Sure some want to study the cool stuff - Samson, David, the parting of the sea, Revelation and so forth, but they just want to be perpetually entertained. That accomplishes nothing.

When Jesus was teaching and healing, most of His following were there only to be healed or to see the healing 'show.' They were there for the entertainment. When the entertainment stopped, then they turned on Him just as a crowd of spectators does when a sports figure has a bad day. 'Boo!' People are fickle.

Ezekiel was to go to a specific audience. God provides the audience. We do not have to go out to speak to certain people, to the rich only, to the poor only, to the nice residential areas only, to this or that specific crowd or geographical location only because we are comfortable in that venue.

Ezekiel was to prepare first and that means to listen and learn and know the material, and then wait on God to provide the hearers.

Ezekiel is not to teach only because he knows that there will be a crowd to hear him. He is not to teach only because he knows he will be warmly received. He is to teach because that is what God wants. Ezekiel is not to teach based on results. God will evaluate the results with each individual. That is something that neither Ezekiel, nor any of us, can do.

We study the Bible for our own personal edification toward our goal of spiritual maturity. Then God uses us as He sees fit, in accordance with His time table. Occasionally a person might be in the headlines, but for the most part, most students of the Word of God (and that is all of us), or 99.9% of us, will not be in the limelight of the world. As far as the world is concerned we are anonymous faceless soldiers back in the ranks.

The world will never know us, but that does not matter. God knows each one of us and He is the only one who does matter.

Study for your own personal growth, and God will one day use you at His convenience. Some people may be used over and over, again and again, raising children, running a business, etc. Some might live their whole life and their whole spiritual growing up process for one important event in history. Maybe you will be the star of a crashing airplane. Be a shame to miss that one opportunity of spiritual greatness.

Some will listen. Most will not. You are not evaluated on the results from others of your spiritual effort, but on your willingness to conduct yourself in accordance with Gods will for your own life. God will take care of the rest of the details in life.

God uses prepared believers in a proactive and honorable way.

Gods uses unprepared believers as historical filler. Not a very honorable legacy for one to pass on.

What are the most important words in life that we should listen to? 'Thus says the Lord.' Apart from Gods opinion, there is nothing else as important in life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
