Eze. 6:1-2

1 And the word [dabar] of the LORD [Yahovah] came unto me, saying [amar],
2 Son [ben] of man [adam], set [suwm] thy face [paniym] toward the mountains [har] of Israel [Yisra'el], and prophesy [naba] against them, KJV-Interlinear

1 And the word of the LORD came to me saying, 2 'Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them, NASB

Israel is a term which refers to the new name of Jacob, the spiritual descendants of the God of Jacob, the geographical region of the physical nation in the Middle East, the nation of God as Jewish descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of course the spiritual nation of believers who belong to God - Gods chosen.

This latter concept is the ultimate reference to which Israel is made.

The bulk of he Bible spends a great deal of time concerning the nature, warnings, and repercussions of the collective decisions of the citizens (believers) who belong to the nation of Israel.

When we get to the Millennium, all nations will be destroyed, and Gods Kingdom and the single nation of Israel only, will exist. It will consist of believers from all backgrounds from all around the world. Of course it will also include Jewish people, not because they are Jewish however, but because they are believers in Christ.

A nation in itself is not a living thing. But it is a collection of people, all individuals who make daily decisions. Their collective choices determine the collective direction in which the nation will go. Either up spiritually and to prosperity, or down spiritually and to misery in its many forms.

Jesus Christ controls history, not man. Mans attitude toward Christ will inevitably determine his direction.

God makes many warnings toward His chosen people, because first, it is those people (believers) who have already decided and believed in the one and only Son of God, Jesus Christ. And two, it is to those people that many blessings and a great future are promised. The only thing promised to unbelievers is the Lake of Fire.

All of Gods blessings come to this earth to, in behalf of, and through believers. More specifically, mature believers are the primary recipients of Gods blessings.

Just as the man is not the direct recipient of Gods blessings, but God blesses the content of his soul, then therefore the doctrine in the soul is the primary target of Gods blessings. The believer is merely blessed by association with his own soul. Thus no one can earn or deserve anything. It is the doctrine in the soul which receives Gods blessings.

Likewise, all peoples on the earth are blessed by their association with mature believers. That association being that they live on the same planet and participate in the same human history. Human history is propped up by God so that it can proceed to its proper conclusion for the betterment of His chosen people. Thus sin and mans sin nature, and the evil in the world will be held in check throughout history. That is up and until the Rapture.

Then at that time, God will allow humanity to go its own way without His support, and we have studied many of the disasters which will occur, and that history of man which will nose dive into oblivion in just seven seemingly short and very fast years.

Again it will be God (Jesus Christ) who will have to come back onto the scene to save humanity. And who does He save? Believers (mature believers) only. It is those who will have the honor of advancing the human race into the Millennium.

No negative believers, and certainly no unbelievers will enter into the Millennium at its beginning.

Ezekiel continues with his discourse on the impending disaster that is coming against Jerusalem, the city which is supposed to represent mature believers who have achieved Gods peace and rest by virtue of their advancing to spiritual maturity. But the city is filled with phony believers. People who not only do not subscribe to Gods Word, but people who are more than indifferent toward God. They are arrogant, professing their spiritual heritage, but are disloyal to God and what He teaches.

So, Ezekiel is to look to Gods chosen people (this could be you) who have been disobedient and tell them in clear and in no uncertain terms, that they are going to be hammered. God will not do the discipline directly, but will allow them to pursue their own chosen course in the jungle of this world and He will allow the functions of the jungle to deal with them apart from Gods protective interference.

If you ever played football, then as a running back you know the advantages of a good blocking line ahead of you. God is potentially that line. With God you score every time you get the ball. But if you tell your line (God) to get out of the game then what are your prospects against the opposing team? They are not blocked and you are creamed every time. Not good for your post season statistics.

The mountains of Israel? Those are the priorities of people who live in the nation. God has priorities and He expects each person to abide by them first. But people who are disinterested in God, come up with their own priorities in life. Your priorities could be a social schedule, a work schedule, an entertainment schedule (whatever your entertainment is), a hobby schedule, or whatever you do each day of your life. Some people just watch TV everyday, and the days pass on into decades and soon your whole life is over.

What have you accomplished?

Alternative priorities which have been substituted in life in place of Gods counsel are among the causes of ones downfall into misery and loss. No goals of life are ever attained when God is omitted from the life.

In fact, it is God himself who warns (prophesies) against the believer who does not properly pursue his spiritual life with a vigor. Other pursuits with vigor become distractions which redirect the believer away from God, and fools the misguided believer into thinking that he is in fact honoring God, when he is not.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
